Mesaba officers will be holding a conference call today at noon Central time to answer your questions on the CRJ award announcement and the ASA extensions.

Anyone know if we can listen on the Web?

-Training to be initially done in Canada
-Initial domiclie for CRJ in MSP
-First training class to begin Mid-July
-A model and B- model Saabs (PX's) leases expire within the next 3-5 years. Sounds like they will not be replaced. (My interpretation from what was said)
-150 pilots to be hired for the initial 15 A/C
-N-Numbers will be 600XJ's
-As part of the ASA, continued negotiations to modify the E-Pass program (ex. 5-year seniority=free NWA travel)
-A/C will be mirror images to PNCL's, except for "Operated by Mesaba Airlines" on the side, and tail numbers. (duh)
-Delivery ceremony is TBD
-Mesaba is only planning on using current hubs, at this time
-All 15 initial A/C are 50 seat versions
-1st A/C in late Sept, 1st rev is mid Oct, delivery for all A/C (15) is under 6 mos. Again, TBD
-XJ Mgmt has no comment on PNCL Mgmt's rip on Mesaba and "low-balling" bid for the CRJ's. (See PNCL internal Memo 4-21-05) "The only people that know the specifics of the bid are NWA and Mesaba Management."
-All A/C will be Flaps 8

*A lot of information is TBD

Would one of my PNCL brothers explain that? Rook? PCL_128? DonDk?

Flaps 8 is for take-off at higher altitude airports (Casper, Boise, etc)

NWA did not initially purchase the "Flaps 8" option on the original CRJ's.

Now they are all retrofited.

...or so a buddy of mine from Air Willy says.

The flaps 8 are more for initial climb performance than ground roll at a high altitude airport. Doing a flaps 8 take-off increases V1 by 10 kts or so translating to a longer take-off roll. If you have to abort at V1 that will put you just that much closer to the end of the runway.

one thing to note... not to rain on anyone's parade.

per the most recent agreement with NWA MEC, I believe there is a cap on 50 seat aircraft in the fleet. No cap on 44 seat aircraft.

I think the total 50 seat RJ's are 95 and unlimited 44 seaters. The 35 that XJ will be getting should just about bring it close to the 95 cap.
NWA had as of 3/05.. 54 on order with 45 delivered.
86 440's of wich 76 were delivered.

Only a handful of 9E's will be back retrofitted to flap's 8...

The flaps 8 allows for high/hot operations.

There are currently 25-50 seaters available under the Oct 04' Bridge Agreement scope at NWA. The first 25 deliveries to XJ are supposed to be 50 seaters. Any additional, I assume, will then be 44 seaters.

Not debating...just clarifying.

Mesaba Mgt. is looking into different style passenger seats; maybe a little lower so the pax dont have to break their necks to sight see.

Say hi to the Bombardier folks this week at the training center, ay.:D
