Most don't have to stay in the regionals beyond 10 years. Once you get someone who's been there longer than that...there's either a history of violations or other family issues. On occassion you find someone who just wants to stay- but that is rare.

At Mesaba there are 235 pilots with 10+ years of seniority. Most of whom, apparently, have a history of violations.

Simply the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

I have flown with MANY 20+ year pilots at ASA. Most were tremendous pilots. I'm sure the VAST majority have no violations or DUI's, etc.

Many were caught at the furlough times in the late 90's as 8-10 yr pilots. When the hiring started back, they were now near 15 years and it made no sense to start over at a Major. If they would have taken that leap, most, if not all, would have been furloughed once or twice more.

Not really, I have a lot of senior captains that told me that they would love to move on but can't risk it and can't afford the paycut because they got to support their family.
