Man if Mesa goes bankrupt there will be a full flock of vultures circling. Everyone will want to capture that flying. Looks like this is what we have to look forward to in terms of growth for our companies. Outlast the other regionals and swoop in when one falls by the wayside. I am sure there are lots of regional CEOs checking in on the financial status of XJET and Mesa on a daily basis.

Food for thought, DIP financing and assets...MESA has over 100 million in A/C parts for assets

So says JO...

I'd be interesting to see an actual audit of that parts count...which I'm sure would be required prior to any financing.

GE-CF34-3B1 IDG??? This looks like a used alternator off a '93 Chevy Astro-van...

They got that before this whole mess got worse. Do you really see Mesa attaining the same?

I thought it was a miracle when Frontier got a backer when they did, and I'd like to see them succeed.

That said, their business model is (as I understand it) to compete with both United and Southwest airlines out of Denver. They were in big, big trouble once Southwest started playing in their sandbox.

Nevertheless . . someone thought they were worth throwing a few tens of millions at. I don't know why ANYONE would back a bankrupt airline in the best of times, yet there you have it.

Who's to say Mesa won't be next?

Yes and no. The 50 seat CRJ is dead . . . most of Mesa's contractors would love to see Mesa disappear and take their lift to the grave.

According to their website, they only have 65 CRJ 700/900's total, and I suspect at least a dozen of those are actually CRJ 9's that Delta owns and has already found homes for.

The remaining 120 or so planes are either 50 seaters (junk), B1900 (total garbage), or DHC-8's (nice niche, but these baby's have been ridden hard and it's time to put them away wet).

UAL approached Pinnacle as a plan B for the Mesa flying?

That's pretty funny, especially since 1/3 of SkyWest is on reserve (or so I've heard) and is ready to expand rapidly, should the need arise......
I think we can say that UAL would go to SkyWest to operate these aircraft, before 9E - just ask Delta.

Comair's CEO has stated publicly a number of times that United has approached us for the flying as well. Delta has given us the O.K. as long as it doesn't compete head to head on any routes. Untied management has also been to our GO touring our facilities.

Yes, because no pilot at any major and/or legacy carrier would ever "take further cuts, further lower the bar" by having a Ch 11 bk judge shove a new contract down their throats.

You're absolutely right . . . Ch 11 will make Mesa "leaner and meaner", and would ultimately hurt all other regional lift providers if they manage to find DIP financing to keep the thing afloat.

I don't get what your saying, "because no pilot at a major would ever do it?" Screw off d!ck head. Has any cut in flight crew bennies ever been good?

1. I hear Valium and/or alcohol is good for anger issues. Look into it.

2. My point is that even major/legacy pilots had no choice but to take huge (!) cuts once their companies went Ch 11. We're not talking marginal differences like an extra 2 days off a month that the Mesa-hating regionals look down their noses at Mesa for on flightinfo . . .we're talking multi-million dollar pension plans.

They were no more to blame for this than Mesa pilots will be if they're put into the same situation via bankruptcy.

UAL shops around constantly - it's a well known fact. They want to keep everyone on their toes - a la Delta.

Can't wait when Mesa signs another deal next year . . .
Didn't JO already sell his soul to the devil? Is he gonna have to sell his daughter's for the DIP?
PBR

His daughter is hot and depending on how many cycles are on her frame there might be some value in that ASSet!!! :D

a fitting end to this parasitic organization, all the other regionals fighting over mesa's carcass.

JO can go to hell.

You think 2 days off per month is a marginal difference? Glad to hear you don't (didn't) have a life but I think most would prefer to have upwards of an extra month off per year to spend with their friends and families.

Compared with 30 years of fully paid retirement benefits with travel and health insurance, yes, 2 days off a month for a period of less than 5 years i just a tad bit smaller, like only the size of the sun.

This is in the news where ?!? Good to see YOU are doing so well. Im sure all the major CEOs are in line to have YOU provide feed for them.

calm down man. Someone stated that United was looking at pinnacle and another guy said skywest should get the flying. Jump on their backs too?? I was merely pointing out the fact that United is looking at alot of companies.

As far as the YOU comments. We obviously aren't doing so well at comair. Mostly do to the fact that Mesa exist at all.

Really? So I suppose you must work for SWA, because otherwise you're working for a job that "sucks" . . and what rational person would waste their lives and their freedom being miserable?

Dino Dude:

Go back through the posts. My response had to do with a comment on retirement benefits. I actually enjoy my 'job' and wouldn't be flying if I didn't. FWIW, inasmuch as SWA has some great work rules and pays well, I wouldn't be happy working there.

Since you seek clarity, SWA doesn't 'suck' because it's just about the only airline that treats its employees as assets not adversaries. That's a philosophy that won't find its way in to any board room at the majors and certainly the regionals, IMHO.

As for the word 'sucks', it's a tired, over used term that has lost its meaning. It was a bit of a pun on the cliche "Mesa Sucks" thing which dominates the mentality on this board.

I still like this board though. Rock on dude!

Heh. Yeah, I agree. On flightinfo, "SUCK" has lost all meaning!

I actually do think there are some legacy carriers out there that, while not the great places they once were pre 9/11, are still pretty awesome jobs.

I also think that under the new presidential administration, a heavily re-regulated airline industry is not outside the bounds of possibility. For the legacy carriers, this will be good.

Not so good for the flying public, or taxpayer, or future pilot wanna-be's . . but good for legacy pilots.
