I've worked for a few different airlines now and I've always received my company ID within the week. I just talked to a friend who is the new hire class at Mesa and 4 weeks have gone by now without anybody receiving their employee ID's yet. There are close to 39 new hires in the class I believe. Most of these people will be sent home for 4 weeks or longer after ground school is over with no possibilty to jumpseat to travel and see family. What kind of airline treats their new hires like this. Also the ground instructor told everybody to quit asking him because he doesn't know. Don't you think he could make some calls and find out. My question is, Is it Mesa's policy not to give out ID's until simulator is finished or is this just a fluke they haven't received them yet.

Also I've talked to many other friends at various airlines and they all said they received their ID's by the first week. Thanks

Apparently current company policy requires completion of the background check before IDs are given out. I guess they are backed up. And as for the ground instructor, why would the company tell a ground instructor about the status of pilot IDs but not the pilots themselves? Ground instructors have probably been told not to bug the HR department about it either. There are 41 new hires in the class. And the company will non-rev us home to visit family etc. in the break before sim.

You want to know because?
