Mesa and SODA or Waiver

Folks,

Does anyone know if Mesa accepts SODAs and/or waivers ?

Say you hold a 1st class medical with a SODA, can you still get hired at Mesa ?


I know there is no company physical, but how much do they prod into a SODA or waiver that you hold?

You hold a First Class Medical with no waivers or restrictions (a SODA is neither of these). I don't see why any company should have a problem hiring an individual who has a SODA.

Read a horror story (right here on flightinfo forums, don't know if it was true or no), but a guy was terminated in ground school for not disclosing he had a SODA ????

I wouldn't worry about a SODA. Just make sure you tell them about it.

Actually, nope, not for color vision. Although I'd say that most SODAs are for color vision.

I have left IV cerebral nerve palsy... basically one of the eye muslces in the left eye pulls the eye up when looking to the right side.

So, upon right gaze and on up gaze, there's diplopia (double vision). But ONLY in right gaze and up gaze. Priamry gaze (looking forward), left gaze, and down gaze are all normal. Eyesight 20/15 both eyes. So no big deal, but still would like to know what airlines think of a SODA like this.
Anyone think Mesa would be okay with a SODA ?

Got a pulse and the proper paperwork...I'd say they wouldn't give a hoot...

Ask yourself time and time and time before you apply...Why Mesa?

I wouldn't want that to happen.

There is an arbitration ruling that states that a SODA is not a wavier. If they ask for Restrictions or Waivers you do not have to list a SODA.

My understanding was that unless an airline specifically asked about Soda's or waivers, you did't have to tell them you had one, and it's not a restriction. I've understood it's just to bring to the medical exam with you. <shrug>

SODA is an FAA approval of certain medical conditions. If a company denies you employment or dismisses you as a result of having one, you have a law suit. The American's with disabilities act governs this and ALPA will back you. (Provided you are a member).

I think the application asked for FAA Physical Class (First of course), Date of Examination, and Waivers.


Even though a SODA isn't a waiver, don't you still have to put it down that you have a SODA ???


Otherwise, wouldn't that open the grounds for an airline to deny you for not fully disclosing pilot information?

Personally, if an application asks about a waiver, I would list the SODA to be safe.
