If ALPA does not come to SKW, they could not be merged
that doesn't make sense. Remember TWA and American?
it's my understanding that JA decides how it's done. It's also my understanding that he's stated he'll merge by DOH which would screw over a lot of SKW pilots.
Another worthless post in an effort to create bad blood between SkyWest and ASA..........
amcnd--you're right, US Air did get hosed even though they were both ALPA. Before the verdict was in, an America West jumpseater told me that the two groups were fighting it out in court but couldn't come to an agreement so it was left to a judge to decide and whatever the judge came up with was final. What about America west and US air... Both alpa US air got hosed. Anyway wont happen JA doesn't want to merge the companies they are still to different on the ops side of thing.
I've also often wondered how ALPA on both properties would effect a merger and from what I understand, if ALPA is on property, the two pilot groups try to come to a fair agreement. If ALPA isn't on property, someone else, I'm not sure who, would make the decision on how the lists are merged. I may be wrong in my interpretation, but that tells me that with ALPA on both properties, both pilot groups will have a say in the matter and hopefully work towards a fair and quitable agreement. If ALPA isn't on both properties, the pilot groups have no say in how the lists get merged. I asked a couple people and that's the answer I got. Whether it's right or not I don't know. If anybody else has other helpful intel in the matter, please feel free to chime in.No...its an honest question....if anyone on ASA or Skywest is hurt by that question...I certainly apologize......
I m just asking to help my determination of voting in favor of ALPA or not.....and what kind of mess that might make if it is voted in or not voted in.......
So to paraphrase, for SKW folks out there who are wondering, I guess the question to ask yourself is "Do I want to have a say in how things might shake out or do I want to let someone else, who's quality of life isn't affected by a merger, make the decision for me?" Is that pretty much it?Flygirl, you are correct. With ALPA you have representation and a framework that has been used in many prior mergers. Without SkyWest ALPA, it is the wild west.
