Why people think B6/Frontier is a good merger is beyond me. Why would B6 want to merge with a company who main operation is in a 3 way with united and swa? For its MKE hub that is also getting crushed by SWA? For the planes? That doesnt make sense.

First North American delivery of a NEO for the price of a Bombardier might be attractive to JetBlue or Spirit or Virgin.

Spirit or Virgin make smore sense than JB, although the investment in Frontier will probably come from P.E. rather than another airline.

One an always hope..... but I am mentally preparing to get raped by TPG or Perseaus in an asset sale as soon as the shareholders recoup their losses.

Frontier/Republic's market value is 216.38 million. In comparison, Spirit's market value is 1.01 billion and JetBlue's market value is 1.64 billion.

I could see someone buying Frontier/Republic just because it is so cheap.

No one is going to buy RAH due to the fact that no carrier wants evertything that comes with it. ie..all the smaller RJ's and the FFD side of the airline and the 2000ish pilots that would come with it. However an assest and route buy out of the old "Frontier/Midwest" side of things is a definate possibility. Especially all of the LGA, BOS, DCA, DEN, MCO routes. That is going to put a lot of Frontier pilots on the street due to the 7 year fence that will not allow them to fly any of the 145's, 170's, 190's on the FFD side of the company. My money is on RAH selling the branded side of the operation, going back to all FFD flying, and BB and company floating away on there golden parachutes. Then Menke will take over at RAH. Merge RAH, Pinnacle, and Eagle together to make a super regional(in size only. not in pay). All wholey(SP) owned regionals will die/be sold off. Skywest and Menke's new regional will be all that are left and rule all the regional feed for all the Legacy carriers. Just my guess, and what do I know.

Nobody would be buying RAH- they would buy the pieced out section of Frontier. I have no idea if that will happen or not- just saying that there is no way anybody would be willing to buy the whole thing.

I don't think USAir merging with anyone is very realistic. Reason? They bring, courtesy of USAPA, huge legal liabilities that won't be settled anytime soon. In addition that can't be merged into any other ALPA carrier without even more legal problems that would never end.
No healthy airline could get a USAir merger to be accepted by their Board of Directors, it would not be in any stockholders best interest to jump into that mess.

- USAPA voted out

They would think of something. Rational thinking has hardly been the hallmark of USAPA.

Which is why no airline would want to merge with USAir due to the fact that the East folks simply have made it clear that any airline merging with them would be inviting trouble. They have made it very clear that they would never just go away peacefully.

Also Alaska and Hawaiian are not in any trouble financially and both have a good reputation with the traveling public. Paint USAir on the side of their A/C and you have destroyed much of what makes them successful in the markets they serve.

I know the Easties tend to be more... experienced... than some pilot groups. How long until the bulk of them hit age 65? Any chance of an early retirement option that would reduce the opposition against the West guys/gals?

Remember not all combinations are from mergers. Such as Republic purchased Frontier out of bankruptcy.
