Do regional airlines require new hires to go through a company physical, or is the flight physical enough for insurance requirements etc.

Thanks

Generally speaking if they did it would only be to class 1 standards (IE if you can pass a class 1 your in), they usually will do this after a conditional offer of employment has been given.

The ADA (Americans With Disabilities Act) keeps them from imposing standards greater class 1. Well, they can but then they open themselves up to lawsuits.

That is the main reason most operators no longer do an in house medical.

This interests me greatly, since blood work is required at Eagle, according to a couple of very happy and quite capable buddies of mine recently hired there.

I've only had the fruit cup cuddle once in a fist-- I mean, first-- clas medical, but never blood work. How does that ... work?

Well the reason I ask is that many corporations, even non flying jobs require a physical. I was told it was so that you could not get hired with a pre-existing condition and then claim it once on the corporation insurance. Just wondered if this applied to the regionals as well. I guess a first class will cover it for most.
