With domestic yields sagging, many legacy carriers are moving to increase their international flights. While United certainly has the upper hand in IAD, Maxjet is moving right in.

Maxjet's fares are attractive, and the ammenities are good. United's strengths are it's size and frequent flyer programs. I wonder if this move will cause heartburn at UAL.

With Maxjet only having 1 or 2 767's I doubt it.

You don't think UAL will mind losing the chance at the revenue from over 100 First Class passengers a day? I bet they do do mind.

I do think they will mind, my point was that they are not going to start a war or try to puch them out of iad over 1 767. That does not mean that they will not try to compete by matching prices, they will just not go to war and try to push them out of IAD with only 1 767. Now, if they grow to 5-10, that may be another story.

I agree. No war, but it will be interesting to see what UAL does to protect their revenue potential. Even a hundred a day, at First Class premium rates, will provide Maxjet a good cashflow.

I think the business plan called for 5-7 aircraft, according to one of thier Captains. As small as they are, I suspect he's on top of the plan...literally!!
