so, here i am, number 1 for departure in cvg, early morning on the 10th, holding short for a comair landing traffic... as we're watching this crj land, over the tower frequency we hear, 'whoa.. whoa.. wooo.. whoa...' 'ouch!' 'that looked hard!'

i'm assuming it was the comair behind us, number 2 for departure... real f-ing mature. no wonder us 'regional' airline pilots aren't taken seriously.

It bothered you enough to remember it 20 hours later and create a thread about it on flightinfo.com?

SO you just assume it was the airplane behind you, more flamebait.

We all bounce it, and especially at home (cvg) we love to make fun of ourselves. Sometimes you get a 145 crew (airline will remain unnamed ;) who thinks they are of this spectacular level above the crews in CVG to point out such things. I would almost put money on it that the crew who keyed the mike were the ones who just left a dent in the runway. I do it all the time (btw, it is VERY possible to bounce an RJ, especially a 700. My record is two for a full currency of 3 landings on one approach). ;)

Stay off your soap box and don't be so uptight. With paycuts, furloughs, and seeing you grow in our home base while we lose our jobs, its difficult to find a lighter moment, so try not to be so arrogant when we do.

1. FSB99 doesn't work for Chittaco

2. You guys are still at full pay until the FAs get their stuff straightened out. How many pilots are still on furlough at Comair??

3. Lighter moment or not, its unprofessional as hell.

1. Doesn't matter

2. Cola's are still out, and Captains are still downgraded, not to mention we're down 150 pilots from this time last year. Furloughs back due to attrition, not return of flying.

3. Professional or not, thats arrogant as hell. We don't take ourselves so seriously we have to publicly post all the crap we hear on the radio.

I was about to say We dontknow if FSB99 works for CHQ or not. It isn;t worth bashing eachothers airlines. You never know when you might need a job.

No pilots on furlough. We are almost back to where everyone was at prior to bankruptcy (position wise)

It is just some light hearted banter on the radio. Unprofessional is people who block people on ops or pissing matches on the radio. The only people listening to the radio is us pilots and atc'ers, not liek we are broadcasting it to the paxs.

Unless of course your like me every now and then you forget to switch from PA to Radio #1 and the subsenquently clear the paxs for Take-off.

Everyone needs to lighten up and enjoy life.

It was probably Surplus.....25k hours and he still hasn't figured out how to land the plane right. Besides, he was too busy lecturing his f/o on how he is so wonderful and how all his problems are everyone elses fault!

"Kettle? Hey, what's up. This is Pot. You're black."

Waaaaaa WAAAAA WAAAA! Lighten up Sarge, you know you can fun at your job and still be safe! Must be a riddle grad!

If you can't make fun of yourself and your friends what's the point. Geeze lighten up Francis! We all have been known to smack them on from time to time...

My personal favorite was holding short in ORF... A company aircraft came in a bit hot and really planted it on... right as he was in the flare the controller keyed the mic to give us a TIPH clearance, but got distracted by the bad landing... it sounded something like this:

"Blue ridge 1234 taxi into position and.... OOOOOHH!" Unprofessional? Who cares? It was funny as hell!

Yeah, it's a little unprof, but who cares? We're the only people that hear that crap. Us and the controllers, so who really cares? Not like the passengers are listening in (except on united, but the only people that listen to that anyways are pilots)

Are we trying to impress each other? I'm only trying to impress the passengers so that the general public will agree that we don't make enough.

Professionalism is to fool other people that you are some kind of work related demi-god. Don't start believing it yourself. That's called an "over-inflated ego"

Why is it I keep hearing CHQ pilots say "Username123 doesn't work here". How do you know who doesn't work for you? Do you kids have like a roster of flightinfo usernames for all of your pilots or something?

Lots of United passengers could be listening...

You Bet.

Sounded like maybe it was frequency bleedover from a male flight attendant's ringtone.

early morning

Remember, if it was early morning for you, it was an even earlier morning for the pilots since they had already flown in from somewhere else. They hadn't quite woken up yet. Give them a break. Look on the bright side, it jolted all the business people awake better than a cup of coffee could do.

Yup, RJ pilots are more unprofessional than the Delta pilot who keyed the mike last week in ATL and said "ground that RJ is going way too fast". But hey they fly a mainline airplane.

Sounds like Comair pilots ain't got SKILLZ! They were not uber-pilot academy clones.

wow..! okay.. lemme explain: my commentary wasn't on the inbound flight's landing. my commentary was the open broadcasting 'whoa whoa ouch' etc., as this airplane was landing. the thought that it may have been the crew landing the airplane themselves never crossed my mind. that brings up a whole new dynamic, but i won't start there! either way, yeah, 20 hours later, i was still thinking about how immature that seemed to me.
maybe this francis does need to lighten up, huh.?
but, if it makes me arrogant and megalomaniacal to think it's rather unbecoming of us to make fun of each other while working, i guess i'll have to accept those labels.

and no, i don't work for chatauqua!
