About PACE

I don't know much about the PACE program, but from asking around, they do have a sim interview, HR, and history checks. My friends tell me that you have the same chances for a position. They said that PACE can be even more particular due to the fact you come into the money losing part of the program. Yes there has to be money lost because BE1900D's cannot operate at $350/hr. According to the MAPD chief pilot, "everyone has the same reccomendation from him upon successful completion of the program." There are plenty of PACE on line, so I'll have to believe it.

I don't think the 1900s are part of MAPD anymore; I believe they've switched that part of the program to 40 hrs of CRJ FTD time, which I doubt runs $350/hr.

The sim

The MAPDers going on line right now are still coming out of the 1900. The jet sim is not in ops as of last week. I don't know what the prices will be, but rumor is the sim will be a bit more expensive than the previous FTD. The chief pilot said costs will be the same; 40hrs old FTD + BE1900D time = 50 hrs new sim. This would make the new sim about $100/hr. Where can you get a CRJ sim for that price? The program may be designed for profit, but I believe MESA aquires this profit by putting 250-300 hr grads online, who are stuck at MESA for at least 3 years.
Low turnover=less training=hign profits. Think about how long you will be there with a 250-300 hr start. So therefore they can price the program for minimal profit at the school level and regain more profit later with a captured audience.
