(CNN) -- A U.S. Airways flight on its way to Dallas returned to Philadelphia on Thursday for security reasons, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

Flight 1267 landed at Philadelphia International Airport, and authorities began a security check while passengers remained on the plane, said airline spokesman Davien Anderson.

The FBI has taken over the investigation, a spokeswoman for the Philadelphia airport said.

WRT this threat - PHL local news tonight reported it was either his ex gf or the gf's new bf that called in the threat. Either way both of them are now getting a cavity search courtesy of the FBI. Also the pax in question tried to shop an interview on facebook after he was cleared this afternoon. Makes me think this stunt may have been planned by all 3 involved. Wait it gets better. The pax got a later flight to DFW (I guess after no one wanted to pay him for an interview) but in DFW he was promptly arrested for outstanding warrants involving assault and drug charges.
