I firmly believe that it's every passengers right to be cold, and to be asleep on an airplane. :D

Seriously though, flights have always been nap time for me. Whether I was deadheading or non-reving, the only difference would be if I had my Capt or F/O to use as a pillow or not....

Pax: Sleep or MP3 player
Crew: AM over the ADF

I usually set the proximity alarm on the GPS and couple the auto-pilot. Then, rack out until it wakes me up. Which is the reason I'm such a lousy C-207 driver.

Crew: FM over the ADF

No FM over the ADF, however, I can hear some good 100,000 watt mexican fm stations if I tune the nav radio low enough.

The way to go upfront is with an xm radio.

What do the Mexican radio stations top out at (frequency wise)? I found a few good AM music stations around here (it's tough to find them).

bought one of those $hitty hook-ups for my cd player. just kinda hide it in front of my seat and the pax never know. last year it was disney radio...all summer. that's the only decent thing i could find in the NE. made for a long summer.

Long flight boredom relief ....

My favorite boredom relief is fiddling with the ADF to receive right-wing talk radio piped into the headset along with the current COM frequency.

Once I find a station strong enough to listen to, I push the ADF button to see if it's coming or going. If it's somewhere ahead, I turn off the pointer needle (results in a stronger signal) and cruise along until it gets weak. Then I search out another.

At night once flying over Ohio, I listened to an AM station from California that remained real strong for at least 30 minutes.

Beats falling asleep.

Yeah, yeah...you say that now, but we all know what you really do to make the time fly by! ;)

:p

Can you listen to an XM in flight? Are they approved PEDs? Sounds like a good idea!
I'm not sure, but if/when I ever buy/build an airplane, that will be the first piece of equipment installed...

disney radio????? please theres plenty better stations than that pablum around the northeast

or you just showing your true colors bro? LOL :D

Eons ago I learned to fly in a J-3 cub. I opined one day that it was the slowest airplane in the sky. An old timer eyed me up and down, and asked,

"Son, do youlike being in that airplane? Are you happy there?"

"Yessir, I do."

"Then what do you care how long it takes you to get there? Seems to me it doesn't matter how long it takes to get there so long as you're happy where you are."

I haven't worried about making time fly in an airplane since. Truth be told, I wish I were up there a whole lot longer.

Having to land. Now there's the truly sad part.

you got me. i'm a closet disney freak :D i did see home on the range a few weeks ago.

as far as aileron girl goes, i think you're jealous ;) you know you'd jump at the chance

Screw up and they never let you live it down: rolleyes:

You D4mn well know I don't get FM over the ADF... I found a few good rock stations tho ;)

PS: I edited it just so that I wouldn't mislead all you guys into thinking you could get FM over the ADF

I got a budy who on a trip a while back had the flight attendant (female) come up to the flight deck and the three of them played a game called M&M. He said she ended up completely naked at the end of it.

hows that game go? not that i'll be able to play it, theres only a handful of fa's at our company that anyone would want to see nekkid :D

Supposedly you use a bag of M&M's. You asign each color to a particular task. Then, each person reaches in a grabs one. Depending on what color you choose, you have to perform that task, which can be anything.

I hadn't heard of it either until he told me about it.

Well there are those that say any reading material other than company documents is un-pro-fession-al. Perhaps they miss the good ol days of porn in the 02 mask.

However, I have seen guys pull out walkman and zone out. Single pilot..no problem dude...... (un-cool really)

I send big documents to my company email and let the company printers do all the work...and catch up on that reading. The Atlantic Monthly is greeat for loooong legs....
