I forwarded the MEC statement to an attorney and he said it all comes down to how well the contract was written. I guess we wil see how well ALPA's attorneys are at contract law. If they did leave such a huge loop hole in our contract somebody should be fired!!

Not that I have a whole lot of faith, but...

This will be a perfect opportunity for the new ALPA president to prove himself.

Prater's gonna to use this as an opportunity to fight tooth and nail! He's got the perfect opportunity to enhance his credibility.
I'll bet the dark horse will be the UCC and the investors - they'll get involved in this and it'll get really ugly!

Good luck XJ guys - I believe you're lucky to have Prater in office!

Why anyone still works at XJ is beyond me.

or, why anyone still here is not trying to get out... the comfy captains in MSP, and the six-year FO's with families,, are eternally hopeful of near future aircraft deliveries. If you are so foolish to believe there is a future here for you, then you are getting what you deserve for not competing for better jobs.

Wasn't the top dog at the NMB right over Paul and John's shoulder when they signed it that night? I am pretty sure that is the way I remember it.

What ..................... The Beatles are involved in this????

well, i would love to go somewhere, but it seems to go somewhere where I will not be making 19 an hour the first year, 20 something the second (while on reserve out of some far off base from my house and morgage) requires some form of PIC that is other than when i was a flight instructor. I have sent resumes to cargo operations and do not know anyone in the corporate side who can get me a job. So there it is, I am waiting it out.

Vince flynn, mmm, sounds like a good read. My friends and i have said that there is a relationship between our corporations today and the fuedalism system of years past........before you go and call me crazy....i already know that, but if you are smart, you can see the correlation.

Looking at some of the news coverage of NWA buying Mesaba I've noticed that they there is talk of an undisclosed side deal between NWA and MAIR to help get the deal done. Does anyone else think that it has something to do with the MAIR letter? In order for MAIR (and their investors) to agree to sell of the only part of their business that makes money there has to be some incentive.

Northwest tells MAIR that they'll get rid of the MAIR side letter. Northwest/Mesaba then come to the XJ pilots and tell them that they can have 36 CRJs (and maybe 36 EMBs) if they dump the MAIR letter. Or something that is more Northwests style. Nothwest/Mesaba come to the XJ pilots and tell them that as part of the sale of Mesaba to Northwest, Northwest agreed to get rid of the MAIR letter or pay MAIR xxx dollars. Since NW and Mesaba are both still in BK they can't aford to pay it. They pilots are given a choice. They can let the letter go, or pay they fee to MAIR with more pay cuts at XJ.

the way i heard it that MAIR was offered one of two options, sell Mesaba to NWA or it cancels the Saab contract. It is rumor, but sounds good. OH, and even if NWA asked to get rid of the letter, nothing short of a NWA seniority number would any pilot vote to be rid of the letter
