I was wondering which style and brand name of luggage you guys use? which seems to last the longest and which can carry all of the things you need? Thanks for any help.

Whatever you use, if you will be flying a CRJ, make sure it is thin enough to fit in the closet. I think most small rolling suitcases do the trick if they are not overstuffed. Small and light is the way to go!

I recommend Travelpro. You should be able to get a good roller bag at the company store for about $100.00. I had one that lasted 3 years being tossed around in the back of a Brasilia.
The Purdy Neat Stuff bags I'm sure are good and durable, but they are also very heavy.

The purdy-neat-stuff are very nice and incredibly durable but they do weight a ton, are incredibly expensive, and you look like a pilot dork when your traveling on vacation. I bought a bag from travelpro a little over a year ago and have been very pleased with it. It has a very slim profile (fits in the smallest overheads) tough as nails and is fully serviceable/repairable. It comes with a steel flight case hook and has a unique stance to prevent the whole works from falling over when you have your flight bag attached. The bag is not expandable but has plenty of space for a 4-day trip. All of the interior amenities are the same as the high end travelpro bags (removeable/washable liner, shoe compartments, ect.....). The best part is that it is fairly reasonably priced (no doubt due to its simple design), I bought mine for $180 but I've seen them cheaper since.

I had a travelpro for about a year...it fell completely apart on one sequence after being thrown around the back of a Saab. The top handle came off and a hole formed in the bottom of one of the pockets. I got a Purdy Neat Stuff bag and will never go back.

Purdy neat stuff all the way! The travel prot is a piece of Sh!t, they just dont have the staying power, they fall of like a prom dress.

Remember you get what you pay for in most cases. I think I paid $260 for it, but it'll a lot better quality bag than the travel pro by a long shot. The thing is built like a tank and the warrenty is great. I love my purdy neat stuff bag, I can stuff 6 days worth of clothes in the thing along with toiletries, I could'nt do that with the travel pro!

Buy whatever's on sale. You can get a nice bag with decent wheels for about $50.00 and it'll last a year or two. Replace it for another $50.00 when it gets ratty. You might also consider getting an 18" for the two or three day turns and a 22" for the longer ones. The high end Travel Pros and PNS bags are fine, but they're more akin to ego than value. Every bag is going to develop problems after a couple of years use, and the high-dollar bags will be repaired free if you want the hassle. I'd rather just toss the bag and get a new one.

buy nice or buy twice...

purdy neat bags are the way to go...

do a search...this question has been covered in exhausting detail on this board...

I aree w/the majority, Purdy Neat Stuff is the way to go. Super durable with a metal frame and metal rivets will last a long time. Multiple handles on the luggage so you can get off the freezing cold ramp in a hurry. You can also fit an amazing amount of stuff in it.

Just a word of advice if you get a travelpro. Before you use it, unzip the lining and tighten all 8 screws for the two handles.

On my bag they never put one of the screws in which caused my top handle to completly break off. Talking to other people it seems that they had the same problem also.

Other than that it has worked fine. If you are gonna fly a Dornier, the travel pro will not fit under row 10 or 12 or the overhead if even slightly overstuffed.

As I have said before, boots for $180.00 overnight bags for $280.00, flight bags for $180.00 and $500.00 headsets. You guys must really be making a killing flying those RJ's.

Let's see $280.00 times twenty years even at 8% compound that for an eye opener. I am not one to talk I up to my eyeballs in dept but my house appreciating almost 100K bailed me out. Something to think about if you are just starting out-go cheap.I just saw a brand new 280 dollar bag get smashed by Icelandair, the frame was bent 45 degrees. I just get used stuff from Travelpro for $50.00, it last a long time, when it wears out I just get a new one.
