Hi!

Sadly, I have to agree with Buckeye, that OH IS better than MI, at least the S. part of MI. I think the only thing worse than living in MI would be IN. I'd rather live in MS, LA, or even OK than IN. I think IN and KS are scrapping it out for the bottom.

I graduated from a HS in S. MI. It was a 45" drive to: A mall, Wal-mart, McDonalds/Wendys/Taco Bell/Burger King, more than a 2-screen movie theatre, etc. We had a roller rink, a bowling alley, a one-screen movie theatre, a small college, a lake, ONE burger place (___ Burger Isle?), ONE pizza place, and one Italian restaurant (Savarino's-It even had WAITERS!!!).

PS-PM Buckeye if you need a crashpad near YIP/DTW-a spot in Crack Tower is opening up! It's a beautiful (by MI standards) location right on a lake (and under the 5R approach path).

i will be moving to detroit next week... i need to be within 15 minutes of YIP, can you tell me where not to live..? the immediate vicinity of yip seemed like a nice place...

how about belleville..?

Try Canton, down US12...decent area.

Watch out for the Detroit area housing market. It is severly overpriced and a lot of people are losing their a$$es. Lots of overpriced homes for sale as the auto industry continues its nosedive.

I agree that Canton is a nice place. And yes, we will probably see prices
continue to decline as more foreclosures hit the market. But hey, it's great for buyers and you can get an awesome deal. (especially on a forex)

Who knows what the future holds. I'm betting it turns around. It may take years but if you're willing to be patient you may have a big payoff in the end.

I can kick myself when I think of the first home we bought in Fl. in 1996. We paid $100k and lived there for two years. The market at the time in Fl. wasn't too great. Homes were appreciating at about 3% a year. We moved to Ohio and sold it. Guess what happened? Fast forward 9 years. The house we paid $100k for is now worth $250k. Why didn't we rent it??? Damn! I'll never make that mistake again.

Can anyone recommend a good Realtor in the Willow Run area? Or better yet some good websites for upcoming foreclosure auctions?

www.realtor.com

You can input exactly what you are looking for. Ex. minimum bedrooms,
baths, square footage, price, newer, older home, garage.

It's an excellent tool and we used this site and found our first forex.

Good luck.

A former Navy reserve Nav from my unit made himself into a Millionair buying and selling houses in Detroit, he lives in Ann Arbor. Never worked a day in his life. Lived off his reserve income while building his real estate empire. His call sign was "Slum Landlord"
