WTF is that supposed to mean? I'd like to see you handle one with a nozzle disconnect or IGV fail. So in your infinite knowledge of this particular crash you have determined that it was pilot error. Why don't you call MCAS Yuma and ask to speak with LtCol Butler. I am sure he would be thrilled that you saved them all so mush time on conducting the SIR.

Why was he RTB with ordnance? Witnesses on the ground noticed something wrong before he ejected. Very disappointed that a fellow serviceman would make such comments. Harriers have FIVE very different types of landings that a pilot has to be up to speed on techniques for each. How many different types of landings do YOU have to know and be current with?

It's fun

Oh come on, it's fun to throw spears at other service pilots. Take the cowboy hat off and look hard at your buddies. :D I found it interesting that you quickly hinted that the pilot made a mistake. We have a Marine exchange pilot in my squadron, "Giddy Up, partner." Just kidding, great guy.

I am happy the pilot is ok. Who wouldn't be.

How would I handle nozzle dico or IGV fail you ask, I wouldn't, you won't catch me flying a Harrier or that new tilt rotor gizmo for all the tea in China. We'll leave that to you Marines.;)

On long flights across the pond I whip out the computer and what do I show the guys, the clip of the Harrier crashing into the water. Why do you guys have planes again? We can provide CAS or the Navy's F-18 can if you're in a remote location. (just kidding)

CCDisco might just be forgetting that sarcasm and humor do not transpose to a message board very well. Sometimes these zipper suited sun god, F15 types get carried away with their own sense of grandeur ;). But I make am sure he makes fun of Marines for the same reason I do ... because I am constantly in awe of their esprit de corps, warrior mentality, and sense of duty.

Glad he got out, and glad no one on te ground was seriously hurt. lets stop bickering at each other and remember who the enemy really is ... the French ;)

Because we like the ordnance to impact on the enemy's side of the FEBA. Not kidding.

I like the service rivalry too. Just seems that this was not an appropriate issue to be responding to. An asset is lost, pilot seems OK but who knows, might be out of a flying career depending on circumstances, a few folks were injured on the ground but not seriously, there is some property damage, and several families were evacuated. If you were kidding that's fine, just supprised me a little.
