Man, those feds do some strange sht to perfectly good aircraft... just to see what'll happen. I need to go work for those guys.

Someone once told me that the video in question was made when the original CAT III testing was being done to the MD-80. Apparently, the AutoPilot forgot to flare??
 
I read it was the demonstrated landing chop and drop for the certification. Throttles to idle at 50", etc.

Not true, that was hand flown, by a Fed.

And the airplane was repaired and delivered to a customer. :)

Huh? I usually have the idles against the FI Lockout at 50", is that bad?

In the Beech 1900D it would be very bad. The C model floats like a 172, so you can chop it at 50'. Saab is the same.
