How would you log level D sim time?

What if the motion was off? I did a few lessons with the motion off, then a few lessons and my type ride with the motion on.

Right now I am looking at doing it like this:

Date/Aircraft Make and Model/Aircraft Ident/From/TO

1-1-2008/CL-65/Level D (FTD for non motion)/Flight Safety International/SLC

Thanks

Sounds good to me. You can log it as sim time but not as total time, jet time, or multi engine time. I also think you can log simulated instrument and approaches if you really want to, but I don't see the need for that.

Do a search there is lots of information on this topic on here.

What is the benefit of using the sim with the motion off? Do they charge less for that?

I'm not really sure of the value of the "From - To" but why not.

As Way2Broke said there's a lot of info floating around on this, but the rules are really all based on three principles:

1. FAR 61.51 telll you all you need to know about how FAA requirements for logging time.

2. A sim is not an "aircraft."

3. The time you spend in a sim is not "flight" time.

Beyond that, it's what the sim is certified for and how you choose to do you bookkeeping

Yes, the rates are cheaper when a sim is used as a procedure trainer. Essentially you are just using some of the computers and moving the switches, saving wear and tear on the hydraulic motion actuators.
The upside over a FBT is that you can fly approaches and use the visuals.

Try keeping a separate log book just for your sim time. I've done it since I did my very first sim back in the day.
