Good advice. When a pilot is having to refer to his flight instruments to maintain level flight or make a turn, that is instrument flying experience. It doesn't amount to much for the experienced instrument pilot, but for the newbie who has to refer to his attitude indicator and other flight instruments to get turned around back towards the shoreline on a dark moonless night with his heart thumping up into his throat, this is experience.
