Just curious:
Does anybody keep their own logbook if they fly for a major?

(specifically current SWA pilots)
Just wondered if you keep one or just let the company keep track of all your hours and/or trips?

Thanks,

I fly with a retired airline guy, he spent 33 yrs @ a Major, the ONLY flight time he entered in his logbook was his Bonnanza flying to prove currency...

His opinion is that the printouts he received from ops were all he needed.... kept them in a file, or a binder or something....

One LESS thing to worry about - fine with me anyhow!!!

Most pilots I fly with keep some sort of log...even if it is entering the hours flown each month on a single line. I just finished updating my logbook with 3 years of flying.

I find that everybody that I fly with keeps a log. I don't fly for a major, but I think that we all feel it is best to track your own landing currency, and duty times to make sure you stay legal. Also, it is good to have at tax time for perdieum rates etc.

I hope to keep a log for my entire career, but that's just because I want to hit the pearly gates with 30,000 hours and be able to prove it. :)
