I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions/comments on logbook pro. I have an old pda that I think I could use logbook pro, but I could also get one of the new PDA phones that can just about do everything(check wx, camera). Any suggestions?

I use a Treo650. Its internet is slow, but I can check radar while on the ground, waiting in a pad. I also added a memory card so I can listen to tunes. I run APDL and it works fine. Very happy with the setup.

How do you get the radar on your treo? Is it a free sight?

Have at it. This is what I use at ExpressJet.

I've been using APDL for Logbook Pro on my Treo650 for 1+ year and it's fantastic. Import your schedule when it becomes available, at the end of month sync with Logbook Pro.

I have it on my PDA and love it. However, I am trying to figure out what the current ME&I rates are. Anyone have a clue what ME&I rates are or do?

I have the treo650 and I second the logbook w/ apdl working well. I haven't touched a paper log in almost two years and its great.
As far as weather:
for TAFS and METARS: http://adds.aviationweather.gov/tafs/
For Radar ect, the best site is DUATS.com Surprisingly, its fast and gives you the best selection of Radar, Nexrad et ceteria out there. Also once you log in, if you save a bookmark on the weather graphics page, you can go there without loging in. Very fast, and the best selection of anywere I have found on the net.

Does anyone have the Treo with Windows on it? I have a Treo 600 and am looking at getting a 650 or 700, but I'm trying to decide between Palm OS and Windows. I've heard from one person that their phone locks up now and then with windows...

if you want weather radar there are plenty of non pda phones you can get it on. i pay 10 bucks a month for pilotmycast. it's great, looping radar, text data, and lots more.
just about all the wireless companies offer it with some phones.

Palm is no rock-solid OS either. I've had a 650 for 2 years now. If I don't count the crashes caused by the opera mini web browser (almost daily. why does it lock up if you touch the screen while loading a page...), I'd say my 650 crashes a few times each month. I can't comment on the 700w although I've had regular windows pocket pc's and they never crashed on me. Overall, having the 650 + adpl is well worth the money.

What version of OS are you running?

Using APDL on my TungstenT, an old Palm. Works great. I keep the Palm in my flight bag throughout the trip and then on the last leg I drop it in my pocket or overnight bag and sync when I get home.

Works for tunes with the memory card. No fancy radar though, on my salary $10/mo is a lot of dough.

that NOAA page is nice...

for quick metars and taf's I use :
http://fltplan.com/cell.htm
it includes notams and a few of the previous/earlier reports for trend info..

Benn using LB pro for years. Started using APDL 3 years ago and love it!! Worked like a charm on my Tungsten E.

Bought a used Treo 650 off E-bay from performancepda_store. Just got it in. It looks BRAND NEW!!

Anybody want to buy a pristine Tungsten E? It's also a great MP3 player! PM me

APDL on Treo 700P?

APDL users, do you know if the logbook will work on Verizon 700p phone? Had some "resetting" issues in the past on a different PDA so I'm little cautious...

Treo 680

Log book pro

No lock ups been using it for 6 months, wundergound is the way to go.

Cingular 8525...Program works very well and the internet is good too. I put the slingbox mobile program on there too so I can watch my home TV from the cockpit during long ground / deice delays.

Do any of the Blackberries work for this sort of thing?

APDL works really good on a Treo 700p. Palm software is rocksolid, it plays tunes (with a 2 gig extension card) and the 700's (with Verizon) have a pretty fast internet. Couple of friends tried Windows and hated it, went back to Palm Treos.

Someone enlighten me on APDL. I have Logbook pro on my Treo 680 and works fine. How is APDL different or better?

Good for any city in North America.

Metars
Radars looping
TAF's
Moon phases

Just a tip, if you're used to looking at weather channel radar, you'll be freaked out by any storm that shows up on wunderground since the cell colors are much more orange and red than on any other radar. Basically on wunderground, yellow=green and orange=yellow, etc.

Thanks CEO,

I do have PTunes on mine but am a little disappointed. It skips every 30 seconds or so - it’s not very noticeable but enough to drive you nuts after a while. Not sure how to fix it, I deleted the program and re-downloaded it again, same thing still (I have he unlocked, premium version)

As far as the logbook pro and the APDL, what’s the difference between the two? Any pros and cons? Is this logbook http://www.frontbeach.com/PalmLog same as Logbook pro or APDL? (it was the one which cause my Treo 700p to keep resetting itself while deleting all input info in the logbook.)

Those of you who have APDL, do you only keep a month or so worth of flight time in it and then transfer it to your desktop or do you keep it a “full” palm logbook?

Thanks guys/gals

anyone use verizon with the Motorola Q? Will it run logbook pro?

No, ADPL will not run on the Motorola Q, or any other device running the smartphone edition of windows mobile (or whatever that version is called). It needs to be a device with a touchscreen.

I just keep track of times/ships/duty/etc. I don't use it in connection with LogbookPro (although I guess I should) I figure once I have my old logbook filled out, I'll start with the LogbookPro. As far as data in it, it doesn't take that much space but I usually erase it once a year.
