I met a Delta 767-300 captain once who lived in DFW but was based in LAX, on reserve. He kept an RV at the LAX employee lot, and when sitting reserve went out to the Dockweiler State Beach (at the end of the runways) RV park. Spent the days sitting on the beach, and if he was called in he only flew LAX-HNL-LAX, with a nice layover in HNL. Not a bad way to go.
