I am looking at getting back into the airlines. Yeah I know I am insane. I live in Charlottesville and was wondering what the chances are of a new hire getting CHO as a base? How many crews are based there and what the lines are like? I own a business here so reserve is not a big deal. Thanks for the help.

Even if you don't get CHO right out of training, it wouldn't be much more than a month after you hit the line before you're there. Probably won't be home much while on reserve, but you won't be on reserve long either.

I think someone who lives in base would be pretty happy here. Apply!

Thanks for the info. For some reason I like the Dash... It seems like a big DoJet on valium.

I don't know about that comparison, but you might be on to something.

It's a good, solid airplane though.

CHO is pretty junior, and just got 5 more pilot slots with SYR closing.

300 flying is 30% of base flying.

Dash is great, nice and slow (more $).

If you have a side business that is great for the $, but we are so understaffed, you will have little time for it what with the extensions, Jr. mans, and poor schedules.

400's are on the way I believe, but that is of no financial interest to an FO, in reality, as they get jack for flying it, Vs. the captain's 30% bump.

How about other bases like MDT or SBY? Where are most of the displacements heading with SYR closing?

From looking on flightaware it seems the 300 flying is generally located more in/out of CLT vs the northeast? Does that normally hold true or is it basically where ever they end up throughout the system since there are so few of them?

With all due respect, what the heck does it matter if you're an FO- you make 300 pay no matter what you fly? Is it jumpseating/commuting you're concerned about?

As far as where the 300 goes, nothing around here makes sense.

I was just asking for commuting purposes. I'm currently commuting on big planes where the JS is never a problem.
