i disagree timebuilder.....Israel seeks destabilization in the middle east for its survival. It's easier to fight fragmented arabs versus them all. Israel uses us as a tool to carry out its policies. Why can't Bush get the balls to demand a stop to the settlements? He's said it once....twice....

What's even more funny about the middle east is the arabs could give a crap about the palestinians. they sold them out in 1948 with the israelis.

Wow...my book predicted you would say that, too! :D

(By the way, I wasn't aware you had a point...)

By the way, Super 80, kudos for trying to shut me down without quoting what I actually said. An excellent demonstration of conservative smear tactics. Well done.

superduper80, what does all your spouting have to do with the fact of the CURRENT nation of Israel and it's reprehensible actions? do we just turn the "other" cheek?

btw, does your wife talk in church?

You must be reading from that Liberal playbook where it says what just happened will happen.

:D

Bill Clinton, I never had sex with that woman (Hillary).

Well I wouldn't either! She's always on the rag!

ROTFL

Something we agree on!! She needs thinner ankles....how unattractive. it's too bad chelsea got her dad's nose....but now she parties with madonna so all is good.

:D Actually, I decided not to get that book when I found out it was just the Conservative playbook with a different cover. Politics is politics. And religion is religion.

And reality is reality...and never the twain shall meet.
Bill Clinton, I never had sex with that woman (Hillary). Well I wouldn't either! She's always on the rag!
Tell me again about throwing insults when you're losing an argument?

Typhoon, maybe he thought it just wasn't worthwhile to quote you?

Citation, Israel was given a right to exist by two authorities, God (in the covenant with Abraham) and man (1948).

Israel is fighting off attacks by those who desire to eliminate it. It receives no good from an unstable mideast. In fact, the mideast is unstable because good people are struggling against evil.

btw, does your wife talk in church?

You are asking this question becuase you think that if something is in the Bible, it should be followed now. That isn't true.

"Tow authorities?" Who are they?

Hallelujah, T.B.! I never thought I'd hear you say (or read you type) that! There's hope for you yet. :)

What does that have to do with the wanton and aggressive killing of innocent women and children by homicide bombers acting in a terrorist fashion that you seem to support by your admonitions against Israel who is in a state of war?

What would you have Israel to do?

Even Thomas Aquinas said they would be moral to protect themselves and their citizens.

How many times do you have to turn the other cheek to run out of cheeks? The Bible does not say we have to be doormats.

I don't think you know about the freedom women enjoy in Christianity and reason and historical perspective Paul gave the proscription for an orderly worship to the Corinthians. But I think you're making mountains out of molehills, and there are plenty of examples of women advancing the faith so that this rule applied against the culture at that particular church is not a condemnation against women expressing worship, praise and other manifestations of the Spirit.

timebuilder, man was feeling mighty guilty for watching the holocaust and thus Israel was "carved" into being, basically a land grab between Israel (which was mostly formed from buying land from palestinians) and Transjordan.

"It receives no good from an unstable mideast."

Funny, it gets a ton of aid from us due to it being unstable.

"In fact, the mideast is unstable because good people are struggling against evil."

don't you think that is way too oversimplified? Israel encamps the palestinians who live in horrible conditions, what other choices do they have? both parties are bloody and guilty in my book.

Typhoon, you're only surprised because you would rather argue than pay attention.

There is much that we don't do that is mentioned in the Bible. Stoning. Making burnt offerings (this isn't the same as Bar B Que). There is a lot of that stuff.

Tow should be "two" I corrected it.

I'm jes funnin' wit'cha boy, now calm down.

Oh how easily they take offence after giving so much.

So now I'm anti-semitic and support homicide bombers?!?! I forgot no one can say bad things about Israel. http://ussliberty.org/ i guess these 34 families would disagree with your assessment.

(I am now vigorously waving the B.S. flag.) Timebuilder, you were the one going on for post after post that the Bible is the "inspired word of Go" because it says so. Don't talk to me about arguing without listening!
There is much that we don't do that is mentioned in the Bible. Stoning. Making burnt offerings...
But if the Bible is the "inspired word of God," how can one possibly know which parts of the Bible are valid and which should be ignored?

(If this gets too tough for you, try insulting me... :D )

Whew! I'm gald to hear that. For a minute I thought you really believed all that biblical stuff! :)

(You know, it just occurred to me that this would be a lot easier if we could just do it as a conference call...)

is it me or is howard dean trying to court super80's vote now?

Dean said at a rally today:

"Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean told a Tallahassee audience today that southerners have to quit basing their votes on "race, guns, God and gays.""

so quit it. and people are gonna vote for this guy?

The short, snappy answer is "by reading it".

It's called discernment. You can easily tell when something is mentioned because it is something that happened, rather than something that should be done.

Not everything in the Bible is an instruction.

I'm surprised that I had to explain that to you.

Oh but I do; the Bible is true. Jesus came, He laid down His life for us on the Cross, rose on the third day and ascended into Heaven.

He will also return in the same way, soon.

And if you don't accept the One God sent, then it's your life that will sufffer on the Day of the Lord and after that until your death and your soul that will be counted with the goats on the left hand of God on Judgment Day.

i wonder what the record is for posts after midnight EST?

No, but a lot of Deuteronomy is instruction...and it's got some pretty scary stuff in it.

And let's not forget that there are people who believe that the Bible should be taken literally, word for word. I've met some of them. They're frightening.

What's even scarier is when they begin to make political decisions based on a historic religious text. Fundamentalists that can vote... [shudder!]

george carlin said it best:

"Think of the average moron....and then realize half the world is more moronic"

No, but a lot of Deuteronomy is instruction...and it's got some pretty scary stuff in it.

You are getting close to understanding.

This is where discernment really becomes important. Now, ask yourself: in Deuteronomy, WHO is being instructed? Hint: it isn't us.

Since you haven't evidenced any sign of learning, here is a pearl I'll throw before you.

The Old Testament Law can be broken down into three parts:

1. Civil -statues and regulaiton for governing within the nation of Israel.
2. Ritual -regulation for wrodhip and sacrificial practices of the Temple
3. Ethical -God's moral standards for His people.

Christians are to follow that which has been confirmed in the New Testament, and that is the third part, the ethical part.

So no, you can't have partial birth abortion and not commit a sin in God's eye: Exodus 21:22-23 because murder is still a sin.
