Just to reiterate a previous post...and beat a presently dead horse, I sure hope DAL opens up by the end of the year. Although I would have to commute, I could do it affordably, and on my on terms, to DAL. I could make it work, with just a bit more pain to LAX. Otherwise, I have to really rethink the numbers.

Waiting on the interview with fingers crossed...

Bear with us, VVJM, as we're having a thought fixation on DAL. It got pulled a lot faster than I expected it to, seems as though you guys think so, too. Now it just doesn't seem to me that they've hired enough new pilots to have filled a domicile, yet. Sooo there has to be more to it. The 2 of the 5 which are most affordable were already popular with NJ pilots for that reason. If memory serves me, when they were negotiating the failed TA (popularly called the POSTA) the company wanted even less than 5 domiciles. Only the coastal cities. (If I'm recalling this incorrectly, I trust the NJ pilots will chime in.) Pilots complained, and to win votes they added CMH and DAL to the list. There was talk, briefly, of adding DEN--another interior city, makes sense, right? So looking back, they were never really too interested in CMH and DAL to begin with. I think they just got used to the idea of the 5 while the contract battle waged on.

It all comes back around to the pathetic FO wages. Fewer lived near the big, expensive cities because they couldn't afford to. They want pilots in those places, and yes, I can see that makes sense in the frac industry. So now they're trying to "force" pilots to go there. Problem is, they didn't increase the FO pay enough to make it an attractive option to any but those who were already in the area. I don't like what they're doing to aviation families and I hope their system falls like a house of cards. Speaking of cards..send them in. It's the only chance you have to fight back against things like this.

NJW,

I'm hanging. It could all change by the end of the year, when I could start. To speak metaphorically, as you are so fond of doing, I'm just throwing out some seeds, where I can, in hopes that something will take root.

Trust all is going well on your other case...

Thanks for asking. The audio tapes have been sent to the deception expert....lieseeker.com.
I'm finishing my observations and analysis to turn in.

We're fighting on! We'll start pushing for forensic test results. I don't have to be a frac pilot to understand foot-dragging by those too arrogant to admit they messed up. I was told in Jan "they're gonna get on that". That's why I can identify with those who deal with broken promises. But when you know the truth, you can't back down. No matter what the other side does.

I emailed in a resume at least 3 weeks ago, and haven't heard a peep. I was getting ready to send another one but now I'm not so sure, because I wanted DAL as a domicile. However, I could also live with PBI. Anybody have any idea?

Capn...you have othing to lose by interviewing.......Heck, if they offer you a domicile you don't like you can always turn it down and tell them why....if they decide to open it up again you may be one of the fiirst ones they call for it considering they were going to hire you inthe first place.

I don't see the harm in going?????? It doesn't appear they know what's going on either, alot of things can change between now and then.

Arch - can't wait to hear how your interview went and what they tell you about LAX. After my next Baja trip I'll email Derinda and ask what the plans are for the future - this may spell it out. I REALLY hope it's a case by case basis!!

Good luck and we're all sure you'll do great!!

Something to keep in mind about these domiciles.

DAL or CMH or whatever may be closed today, and the others available. But as soon as the available today domiciles get heavy with newhires, then they will close those and open the others back up. And round and round the open/closed wheel will turn.

They are planning on hiring a lot of pilots, they cannot have filled any one domicile at this point. Doesn't make sense. That's just the way I see it.

Don't fret over what is being offered today, wait and see what is offered if you get the job. If you don't like it, tell them so. I would be willing to bet that the above post that you will likely be on their list for that opening will be reality. Makes thier life easier.

YOMV

If they play games with the pilots' futures--now you see it, now you don't-- I don't think their lives will be easier. They will have to follow the rules they already agreed to. That's what a contract is for. And I'm quite sure they have been reminded of that.

I'm with DO. Go to your interviews and ask for the domicile that works best for you. Ask what their system is for assigning pilots. These are critical issues for your families that should not be made on a whim, especially someone else's!

It could all be a temporary thing with all those Independence guys they picked up. Perhaps they were grouped around certain regions and flooded those domiciles for now.

It's funny that the hiring department is so concerned with which domiciles get full when scheduling doesn't give a damn. They just see that this BOS guy and this LAX guy are on the same day so we will just airline them together.

If scheduling actually cared where the pilots were I'd be flying with a lot more new england guys that are on my same 7n7 line. Instead i end up flying with west coast guys with 3 days left in their tour.

Thanks for the responses guys, I'll keep trying. However, that's the point I was trying to make. I haven't even gotten the application package, and it's coming up on a month. Are my quals not competitive? I thought they sent the app to everyone, and just interviewed the competitive ones. My buddy that sent a resume in a week or 2 before me got his app package in 2 weeks. I'm just wondering what the procedure is.

I will definitely still interview if offered though.

Congrats Archie

Hey Archie,

I too am eagerly awaiting a call for an interview. Any chance you, or anyone else for that matter, could PM me with some gouge sources? ANY help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks...

Thanks VVJM265, I've tried there but am having trouble logging on...must be something with my email...I guess I'll have to re-register. In the meantime, if you have any advice, please feel free to PM me...thanx again.

That's the catch with me folks, I haven't even recieved the app package. My buddy got it in about 2 weeks, and it's been coming up on a month with me, and nuttin' honey. What's the deal? I thought they sent that to everyone. Am I wrong and do they just send it to people that are competitive?

Thanks.

Hold tight and keep an eye out for any changes in this domicile debacle. The talk on the union board is that the pool of candidates may be drying up and the pilot recruitment people are well aware that the domicile issue is driving away a lot of potential candidates.

Conversely, training is pretty backed up right now. The company may be slowing up on lining up interviews to give the training pipeline time to recover.

I will also say that when I was trying to get an interview with NetJets, even with a letter of recommendation, it still took me a little while to get the actual interview after I got the application package. Bottom line - it may take a while, regardless of your qualifications.

For what is's worth, I'm one of the guy's the basing options chased off. I really wanted to fly for NJ and I've had lots of friend fly there and loved it, but there was no way to make it work. I ended up at FedEx instead. Hope you all change this soon.

I totally agree with you on this point bud. I was just out on IOE this past week. I am PBI based, but I ran into two LAX based guys at the PBI Plaza hotel... I asked how they arrived in PBI and their response was "oh we airlined from the west coast to here!!" So why even bother... The only thing that I saw as a positive for the company for this domicile thing is the lack of airlining pilots around (which obviously didn't work in this example). However I was lucky enough to start and end my tour without touching a commercial airline flight. Once the (H) Highway shuts down next month then I can see the company airlining me to an airplane elsewhere.

borrowed from Guitar Guy---

Domicile Debacle is much more fitting than Domicile System. You won't mind if I borrow that for my own posts, I trust. :)
My husband and I have been discussing the issue for some time and he tells me this is one to keep an eye on.

process

could someone briefly explain the hiring process at NetJets. i understand first e-mail your resume, which I have done, then do they send you an e-mail confirming they received it? Then what? Thanks for any input.

Hi corpaviation. After they receive your resume and, if you meet their
qualifications, they will send you an application in the mail. I received my
application about 2 weeks after I sent my resume. That was back in January.
After you send in the application, they have been sending most pilots generic e-mails saying that you have met all of their requirements and that you are pending an interview. (waitmail). Although, some pilots have been called in right away. They are very backed up right now from what I hear and aren't even interviewing in March. Look at nixxons thread on net jets timetable to get some idea of timeframes. It is very helpful. It's a looong process but well worth it. Take care and good luck.

Yes, DO, that has been discussed, as well. Another missed opportunity to mend/improve labor relations.

No problem, NetJetWife - feel free to use that one. I'm still filling out the paperwork to trademark "domicile debacle". :)

And I agree with your husband that the domicile debacle is an issue to watch. Especially if the company attempts to re-open any of the closed domiciles.

Let's hope Mr. Santulli is serious about turning the company around.

Yes, therein lies the problem. The matter of pilots' rights was made clear to them recently but they want to cross that particular bridge when they come to it. So we wait and watch and hope they deal with it sooner rather than later. If RS is serious about rebuilding labor-management relationships this would be a good area to start things off on the right foot with his newest pilots. Additionally, signs that the company takes contract compliance seriously will be welcome news for every pilot.

The NJ pilots who predicted that Santulli would come riding to the rescue were partially correct, perhaps. It seems he waited until Boisture had done his "dirty work" (fighting the pilots) for him before making an appearance. Let's hope he is waving a broom rather than a sword. There's a lot of clean up to do, starting with waste and half-baked ideas like the domicile debacle.

Blew the sim back in Oct. Was told I could try again after six months. Served my sentence and contacted the folks at CMH. Sent me some forms to fill out and sent them back. Received the dreaded letter yesterday advising me that I would not be able to try again. Gave no reason. Had a very strong corporate background and typed on an aircraft NJ uses. Guess I should of had an airline background. I really wanted to fly for them. PBI would have worked fine. Such is life I guess. Good luck to all.

I'm sorry to hear that things didn't work out for you, Hawker 800. It seems there should be a standard process that is always followed to keep things fair. At the very least, I think an explanation is owed when they change the rules on you.
