Lighten up yourself -- I was picking on the General, not SWA.

But to your point, the quality of hotels was actually one of the things that attracted me to this company. QOL on the road is not an insignificant thing.

Picking on me? Riiiiiight.

Huh? Say what? Duh? Come again? I am pretty sure SWA/FO was bragging about his Southwest pay, and then stating "yeah boooyyyeeeee." Did that not happen? You sound like a typical SW pilot who can't debate squat and instead resorts to name calling. Hey, just for the record, a lot of people actually DON'T want to fly for your company, not because of the money, but rather because of the regional type rosters and lack of variety(domestic/INTL, aircraft type etc). It's ok, you will still survive, though. Good luck.

General,

Have you looked in the mirror lately? You are the one who becomes emotional and resorts to personal attacks and name calling. Please don't make me look them all up.

Congrats on all of your checks rolling in. I mean, it really is free money right?

Also congrats on Delta having more cash and short term investments than SWA. Where do you suppose the ability to accumulate that came from?

Have you looked at the other (debt) column?

FDJ12,

I'll go back and check.

Don't sweat it, let's just leave it at what it is. DAL is doing significantly better this year, posting a solid profit for 2Q2007 and several other large carriers are also posting strong earnings.

It's good news for all of us, no need arguing over good news.

Any company can use the BK process to shed debt, and that is the way it is. If your company gets into dire straits, then it can do it too. Sure, your credit goes bad for awhile, but anyone can use the system. Don't seem so startled. If you want it to be more strict, move to Russia. President Putin just signed off on a larger merger to compete with Aeroflot called "Aero Union." I guess you want a single leader to decide everyone's fate, eh?

As far as me calling people names, it ALWAYS starts with someone else doing it. I stated that some people might not want to fly for SWA for certain reasons I always state, and SW pilots on here go nuts. They can't believe it---someone doesn't want what they want. Really, it is nuts. So, that is the way it starts. I am entitled to my opinion, as are you. Just be ready to back up your claims like "it really is free money...." Hey, we took large pay cuts, and a BK judge supervised. We became creditors, and in the claim sale investors caused the claims to rise to 60 cents on the dollar. That is how we got the money, and it could have been less since United only got 25 cents on the dollar for their claims.

So, again, you can go and do the BK process if you want to also. I wouldn't wish that on anyone, but it is there for anyone to use if needed. IF you don't like that, move to Moscow.

"NUTS" - that's funny. Just like the book!

Or you could be at Delta and you could maybe overnight in Moscow (no need to move there)

Almost at page 6!

SWA/FO was trying to compare his 6 year FO payscale to mine.

no dumba$$, I was telling you what I would make when I upgrade at 6 years to CAPT. Get a clue....

Boyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeee!!!!!

Wow, how ironic? Anyway, yes, we layover in Moscow, and it is a 6 day trip worth 42 hours (JFK--SVO--ATL--SVO--JFK), and fairly senior. The hotel is supposedly very nice, and it is close to Red Square. If you wanted a change up for the next week, you could pick Athens, or Venice, or Budapest, or Kiev, or London, or Milan, or..........and a newhire could bid into that FO position almost right away if he/she wanted. We are adding new 757ERs (from TWA/AA) to JFK soon and starting even more flights to Western Europe---more will be announced soon.

A newhire would be on reserve for years, and spend lots of quality time in Lagos.

Lagos Lagos Lagos Lagos Lagos Lagos Lagos.

(as opposed to LBB LBB LBB LBB LBB LBB LBB LBB.....)

OK, now I'm starting to see how these threads are supposed to go.

LBB Lagos LBB Lagos LBB Lagos LBB Lagos LBB Lagos I get it now :)

General,

You do realize that you're trying to make losing your pension look like a windfall don't you? Dude, they gave you $170 one time vs. $170 a year for life.

Are you happy? or just glad you have a job?

Gup

What is funny is that you really don't know anything about seniority at DL. Newhires could get the 767 INTL, but only in NYC---which will not serve Lagos. ATL--LAGOS nonstop starts in December, and ATL 767 INTL is a bit more senior, although I would be too senior to fly it. Wrong again.

A pension is a promise, nothing more. Until you get it in your own name, then it is a promise. We just got it in our own name, a DC fund. Plus, before the pension was terminated Delta gave the pilots ample warning if they wanted to take atleast half in a lump sum. Other airlines didn't give any warning. We had about 2300 guys leave with a huge lump, and in reality they will be getting a lot more than they expected now since the PBGC was almost made whole on their debts (they got a $2.2 billion claim in BK, they were owed $1.5 billion, and they got at least 60 cents on the dollar, or maybe a bit more). And, the retired guys also got an $880 million claim, which helped them get back some of that extra money they were "promised."

I got money that filled my 401Ks for last year and this year ($44,000 each), plus I am getting another check that will likely fill my 2008 401K, plus give me more cash to invest. I have a bit more than 10 years with the company, and I think I am doing fairly well, and with the DC fund in my own name now, I think I will feel a bit better. In the next contract we will go for a larger contribution on the DC fund---our 9% vs United 's 16%. (we also have a 2% match on the 401K). How is your pension structured? Or do you have a pension? Did your senior guys sell you out 10 years ago when they got all of those options?

Yet you're an expert on seniority at SWA?

I think all of these Southwest guys are total dorks

Not all of them, but plenty of them on this board. They do look cool in their leather jackets, and a lot of them look like Maverick in TOP GUN. The girls in LBB all think they are studs.

With 16 flights a day to LBB, and more to MAF, AMA, and HRL, I think you guys have a better chance at landing at a hole than we do. Have fun at Ronkonkama too.
