In addition to what G100 said, on the EASy you'll program other relavant speeds, ie. below 2500/4nm from airport, below 10,000, transition from IAS/Mach, descent, SF1/2/3. In otherwords, I'll select "FMS" on the auto throttle and no longer have to dial in desired speeds as they'll already be programmed. The only time I'll have to change a speed is at ATC's request.
Gulfstream came certified because even though it's EPIC architecture, it's still standard avionics, different presentation. Plus, if I'm not mistaken, they had Planeview in certification runs long before DFJ was finished enhancing their EPIC upgrade to EASy.
BTW...did you seen the numbers on the 7X? Paris-LA burning 5000....5000!!! pounds less than the G500!!! Even at a cheap (I can't believe I'm saying cheap!) $3.00 a gallon, thats a $2250 savings...not to mention some $10 Million savings in aquisition.
