Hmmm .... "company payscale..." is that code for do not walk in here with no stinking salary survey?

Statements like that make me a bit nervous.

Los Angeles based - does that mean VNY, LAX, BUR, LGB....? How many Legacy operators are based in the LA area?

Dassault aircraft with EASy cockpit avionics 900's and 2000's

The problem is it's still French and it's not as good as Planeview:D

DA-EASY = Falcon 900 w/EASy cockpit.
DA-2EASY = Falcon 2000EX w/EASy cockpit.

Your planeview estimate is pretty bold coming from an 800 hour GIV pilot. The EASy cockpit is about 5 years ahead of planeview, IMHO of course.:D

i have flown planeview for about a year and it is the nicest presentation i have ever seen or used. i have never seen or used an "EASY" presentation so i really couldn't compare the two. i assume you have used both?:) why is it 5 yrs ahead?

todays whiz/bang is tomarrows also ran! planview should be at the top of the heap for a little while longer along with "easy".

Jeez, you and Gumby must be hanging out more than I thought. I mean, how do you two come up with all these good one liners????????

The only experience I have with Planeview is a sim demostration and literature so I'll compare what I have seen.

First, both are great advancements in avionics, no doubt about it. However, DFJ took the same Epic architecture and went well beyond. For example, the EASy aircraft fly a path rather than pitch. It's actually a much more efficient (and logical) means of flying the aircraft. Try it...you'll like it ;)

DFJ also got rid of having to look down at an FMS screen to program it. On the EASy, all flight plan entries can be made via CCD and upper DU (large screen, top center (or bottom center if you so choose). Now, each CCD is in a position where either pilot hand flying the aircraft and wanting to change something on a screen, he doesn't have to switch hands on the yoke to do so. In the Gulfstream, they chose a stick style controller near the right/left side windows. For example, if the pilot in the left seat is flying with his left hand (logical, right?) and wants to manipulate a screen, he has to now fly the plane with his right hand, freeing the left hand to stick. Petty? Maybe, but not logical in my humble opinion. Now, our SOP is to have the PNF control the I-Nav with AP off. AP on, FP has control of the I-Nav. There are times when the PNF is busy, like any aircraft, where the FP will "multi-task" for a short time.

I'm not trying to knock Planeview. I'm just saying Gulfstream could have advanced their version by leaps and bounds as DFJ did. I'm sure you can (or will ;)) give me examples of the Planeview and you, IMO, have an good point. To each our own :D

I think some one should be back in their room, studying for their 135 ride!! And not cruising around Secaucus in his Big Black pick up truck!

2000Flyer, excellent post. You gave a sound viewpoint, in your opinion, about an aircraft comparison. None of this mine is bigger than yours type crappola that is posted on this board.

thanks for the explanation...with planeview i think if i select vnav i would be flying a path...so we have that option available. i suppose we can also accomplish fms tasks on the inav screen using the cursor which is controlled by the side mounted controller (tasks like going direct etc). many of us have well ingrained habits that are hard to change, so we may not be using all the functions available. Planeview gets better and better with each software upgrade as well. so far we have had two upgrades in about a year. there will be many more to come. they are both nice systems and i was just curious why you thought "the EASY cockpit" was 5 years ahead of "Planeview". seemed like a bold statement. thanks again :)

Bold. Guilty as charged. Biased too. ;)

I'll also agree with much of your statement. I think we don't use the system to it's 100% potential. Some in our department dislike the auto throttles. Some can't believe we've lived without them. We're due for our first major software upgrade in May. Another by the end of the year.

Do you have heads-up? If so, I'm guessing that displays path vs. pitch, but I'm not sure on the Gulfstream system. Ealier Falcons with HGS offered path on the display, while pitch was still presented on the PFD.

Both companies have advanced avionics use well above their competition. For those of us who jump between something like EASy/Planeview to yesterdays avionics really feel the difference!
