I have a buddy who left for FedEx back when they were still Valuejet. He's now an MD-11 Captain....you do that math.

Yup, and we've got plenty of former Pan Am, Eastern, Braniff, United, Midway, USAirways, and Emery guys . . . . . so take that into your "ciphering", Hugh.

You do? What did they do to get fired to make them so desperate?

They probably sacrificed their seniority and retirement funds rather than fly with your idiot ass, who obviously isn't fit to lick their shoe.

Anybody know if the 500 hrs part 121 PIC minimum only applies to 121 time. Many of us flew left seat at the commuters back when they operated under 135 and all of our PIC time is 135 ?

He's talking about the Part 121 PIC requirement not total time.

135 Not Acceptable

Steve 737,

You should of course call HR but the response I got before is that they do not accept Part 135 time. I think is unfair but they have the option to select the pool of pilots they want. I actually heard one of their representatives explain that 135 flying was less complicated or involved than 121. I would love to know what is so easy about loading and unloading aircraft, manage 19 people at once, fly to unfamiliar airports all the time, do the load manifest, flight plan, clean the aircraft, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc. Their recommendation was to "go get the PIC 121 and you are set! Ha Ha ha"
It seems that you may just have to go get the PIC 121 time. But definitely call you never know. They may make an exception....

Sure, I'd go to FedEx in a heartbeat if you could expect to upgrade to MD11 Capt. in a decade... But I don't see a doubling of the fleet in the next 5-7 years like happened in the 90's.

I'd rather fly Capt. on the 717 and make $120k than fly FO on the pig in the middle of the night for the same money. IMO.TC

I would list it as "Commuter Airline Captain, Beech 1900, Great Lakes Aviation" or whatever airline it was, and leave it at that. I think what they are looking for is pilots who have been an airline captain before.

It is truthful, and it addresses their intent- to identify pilots with airline command experience. I am sure they would hire uys from a Part 125 Supplemental carrier just as well.
