With the crappy TA were haveing to accept ,would you stay for the massive upgrades were supposed to have or go else where? Im a 1900 fo that has been there 2 years, cant go to jet fo we have to wait until we can hold jet capt which means we have to upgaed as 1900 capt with another 18 month seat lock, while new hires go to the jet, which is better pay and QOL.the MEC is saying everyone cane upgrade in a year, BULL $hit here are the real numbes 4.5 years it will be something else no QOL or No pay raises.
Limited growth MESA'S HAS FIRM ORDERS ONLY THE FREEDOM PLANES- 40 A/C. THE REST IS ALL SPECULATIONS.

IF YOU EXPECT BASED ON SPECULATIONS GOOD LUCK.

WE HAVE ENOUGH CAPTAINS AS OF NOW FOR 72 PLANES,TO INCLUDE FREEDOM, THE REST ARE J4JS..............50% OURS.

what furlough protections we have, if any, against the U.S Air mainline pilots?.............let say airmidwest gets sold , could the airmidwest pilot take the job from a mainline FO? OR they are seat protected?

on the j4j agreement there is nothing about that? could you please explain this.

we havent even been given a copy of the full TA!!!

Leaving Mesa

After reading everything you've written, if you are asking if you leave Mesa, my .02 opinion would be that you should factor in your seniority situation relative to what the contract provides. Seniority is seniority, no matter where you are. Things aren't going to improve much the next couple of years. If you believe you can better yourself elsewhere, you should consider it. It never hurts to apply.

By the way, my favorite about that contract still is having to take sick or vacation time for jury duty. That is terrible. I haven't researched it thoroughly yet, but I believe it could be illegal.

Update: Employers cannot penalize persons for jury duty. E.g., Arizona:

An employer shall not refuse to permit an employee to take a leave of absence from employment for the purpose of serving as a juror. No employer may dismiss or in any way penalize any employee because he serves as a grand or trial juror, provided, however, that an employer shall not be required to compensate an employee when the employee is absent from his employment because of his jury service. Any absences from employment shall not affect vacation rights which employees otherwise have. Sec. 21-236, Ariz. Rev. Stat. (emphasis added)

As I read the Statute, Mesa cannot dock vacation time for jury service as the TA proposes. Once again, I'm not a lawyer, just a paralegal and pilot. Of course, Arizona is now Mesa's home state.

Michigan is another example. I'm sure the laws are similar in other states.

Thats the first thing that caught my eye last week when I read the TA also. Probably because I had jury duty. The company did move a reserve day that feel on jury duty and replace it with an off day, upsetting, but nothing like having to use sick or vacation time. I would have the resumes out.
