With the proposed relaxation of TSA rules allowing passengers to carry small sharp objects, and tools, will I be able to carry my Leatherman thru security, as I was prior to 9 11?

I don't see why not, but why the hell is the lovely TSA going to allow this again. I always thought it seemed kind of weird long before 9/11. It seemed like after 9/11 our gov't was going to make our security stronger than ever. They some what were on the right track, but now this along with the downsizing at many airports. Doesn't seem right. But hey, if they're going to let people carry small blades through again, take your leatherman.

Unfortunately, just because the TSA issues some kind of new ruling doesn't mean the folks you encounter at screening will understand or even have heard the new rule. In the meantime, you'll lose your Leatherman.

I'd wait a while and let other people sacrifice THEIR Leatherman until the "folks" at TSA figure out what their own agency's policy is.

Entire sham is that we have our shaving equipment in our carry ons.
Sure miss that tool...
Good point about waiting till TSA figures it out.

It would be very nice to be able to keep my Leatherman on me at work but honestly do you want the passangers to be able to carry them?

It kinda defeats the whole purpose.

I've been carrying my leatherman at the bottom of my flight bag for about 6 months now......noone says a damn thing :pimp: ....I guess I'm just lucky....

Do you literally "strap it on"? Leatherman on the left, cell phone and dingleberry on the right. They might confuse you for Bob Vila or Batman.

Glad someone caught this. Don't forget the pocket protector for your pens.:p

I asked the CVG TSA about this yesterday. They said "We don't know, we're just finding this stuff out and getting our news from CNN"! Nice organization over there...
