Ive just read in a newspaper here in Mexico that a Royal Air lear jet went down at 2pm in Chicago...

heres the news but its in spanish

Chicago, Estados Unidos (5 enero 2010).- Autoridades informaron hoy que un Learjet de Royal Air que tenía permiso para aterrizar se estrelló en un bosque cerca del Aeropuerto Ejecutivo de Chicago, en el suburbio de Wheeling.

Una vocera del aeropuerto dijo que la nave se estrelló cerca de las 14:00 horas locales y que los bomberos se encontraban ya en la zona.

La vocera no pudo confirmar inmediatamente cuántas personas viajaban abordo y si había personas heridas en tierra.

La agencia federal de aviación de EU (FAA) dijo que el avión parecía ser un Learjet que se estrelló cerca de un río.

La compañía Royal Air Charter hasta el momento no ha emitido algún comunicado.
 
One report said single pilot. Yikes.....

These guys decended into the water....controlled flight into terrain (water).

A straight down accident is very rare with any type of failure or pilot screw up.

That Lear in Chicago today....that thing went STRAIGHT down vertically. That is unusual on a nice weather day. Thats all I'm saying.

Possible rime ice accumulation? Very strange, indeed.
