-200's out WEST????? (ASA base in LAX maybe????)

Delta Airlines carrier ASA has applied with the US DOT for nine routes between LAX and Mexico, with plans to operate the routes using CRJ-200 and -700 aircraft. The routes are as follows:

Eff. 01Dec06: La Paz and Loreto
Eff. 01Feb07: Hermosillo and Mazatlan
Eff. 06Mar07: Torreon
Eff. 08Mar07: Los Mochis
Eff. 13Mar07: Manzanillo and Zacatecas
Eff. 15Mar07: Culiacan

Delta needs to finally give that West coast American Eagle flying to a DL Connection carrier, what a concept!!! Maybe this is the start to the end of the Eagle contract. Just a thought.

I know that but I'm saying that this could be the start of the DL Connection takeover of the AE flying. Start with new flights to Mexico, then also take over the existing AE routes.

I believe I was there with you for that conversation. He clearly said that there would not be a California crewbase as long as he was at ASA. He did not say anything about other areas of the west coast. His comment was based on his experiences with an LAX crew domicile at Pan Am.

He is gone (for more than a year now) and all bets are off.

If Jerry is already scratching his head about why there's a Skywest and ASA domiclie in SLC, why would he put an ASA domiclie into LAX, which is a large Skywest operation?

They only make more due to Comair's contract. It was a gift to keep the union off the property. Skywest pilots certainly didn't negotiate their payrate. If you want to, then send in those ALPA cards.

Skywst pilots CANNOT fly out of LAX for Delta and UA. They cannot compete with each other due to their contract with UA. This is what I have been told by a few Skwst pilots, correct me if I am wrong! Plus, it was ASA that applied to the DOT, NOT Skywest! Take if for what it is worth!

That's funny...cuz we do both United and Delta flying out of LA. I think the contracts say that we can't fly to the same airports for another company....

edit: I may be full of horse dooky cuz skywest does lax - slc for both......

LAX, SFO, SLC, DEN...

Skywest operates out of all of those hubs for both DL and UA, plus a bunch of non-hub cities. I think once DL started bringing multiple carriers to the hubs, the exclusivity clause was done away with.

Skywest has an exclusivity clause with UA. All UAX carriers do. However how it reads is that the carrier can not operate multiple services for the same company out of the same base, they can however operate flights between their own bases. ACA flew from CVG to IAD for DL until the CVG MX hanger was opened. Unless something has changed at UA/UAX Skywest can not fly from LAX for DL as long as they fly from LAX for UA.

The aircraft have to go through SLC to get out there. Close the base, but just send everybody on trips through SLC?

Or maybe management says it is going to us, then they will take it away and give it to SKW and make it look like it is punishment.

Just a sample of cities I have seen SkyWest 50's from SLC in that we fly to out of ATL:
XNA/TUL/ICT/SAT/MCI
So:
ATL-XNA-SLC-LAX.....
ATL-TUL-SLC-LAX.....
ATL-ICT-SLC-LAX.....
ATL-SAT-SLC-LAX.....
ATL-MCI-SLC-LAX....

But like Stifler said......I can see them luring us with this then giving it to Skywest...Whatever is going to be is going to be. We can't and shouldn't stop it.

Skywest has flights from LAX to SLC on UA and DL on the 50's and 70's(2 flights a day on the 70 for UAL #6426 & 6432 and 1 flight a day on the 50 for DL(flight 3758). They also have flights from SFO to SLC on the 50 on both sides. UAL is 6328, 6350 and 6418 and DL is flight 3961.

but they don't have a UAX and a DLC base in both SLC and SFO, nor do they run a UAX and DLC focus city or hub in SLC and SFO. Someone at SKW please correct me of I'm wrong, but I believe the PDX flying was all DLC before DL closed the PDX hub.

Tomct, I agree. I truly believe right now they don't know what the heck to do. If ASA does call them (released into a 30 day cooling off period), it will be interesting to see how Management will play it. It's obvious Jerry doesn't want a Union calling the shots, I don't blame him one bit. How do you make it alright and not lose face here? Do you go back and give the Skywest pilots their raise on the 70 saying, "Thanks for sticking it out during the hard times", in hopes they don't unionize? Then negotiate with ALPA for as little as possible averting a strike? This is getting crazier by the day!
