Anyone over at Walmart's aviation department know their current hiring status for the Lear? Any info is appreciated.

Nothing much hiring for the lears right now. But I heard that if you're really motivated you can get hired part-time as a cashier and then flip a coin.

And probably one of the best flight departments in the country. Hands down!!!! and it's not easy to guess. I just wish I could get on!!!

Yeah...whats wrong with Arkansas?

Hillbillies...check
Banjos...check
Moonshine...check
Walmart...check

Sounds like a good times.

Sorry nobody wants to take your question seriously. I understand that it is a good outfit and I would imagine some good job security. I was called (in 2008) a couple months before my last day at AT&T for an interview. I asked about the pay and benefits during our conversation. I won't go into detail, but facing certain unemployment I declined the interview.

Good luck-

They are switching to LR40/45 and phasing out the LR35/31. Some around here have rumored that they may be looking for pilots during the summer or fall 2010. They stay really busy. I don't know much about pay other than second hand information. It seems that they have average pay, stock and management options. Cost of living is pretty cheap in NWA. It's still growing. The Rogers/Bentonville area is getting better. Great for outdoor people. Boating/Fishing(some of the best fly fishing in the US), and Mountain Biking.

I actually flew for a NWA Arkansas chicken company, for several years.
So yes I am making fun of AR, we could not wait to get back to civilization.

The cost of living was less, but that was about it. The roads were inadequate, to much traffic, once a week trash pick up and so on.

Lots of millionaires per capita, but they keep the wages low for obvious reasons.

I love the "Its cheap to live here" line when justifying low pay.

Thats great....all it means is that you will never be able to move, never build big equity in a home, never save more cash, etc...

Hope the job lasts forever!

I lived in AR for 6 yrs. I loved it there. Walmart is a decent place to fly for from what I've heard. There is also a great flight department out of LIT. That's the one I was referring to. It takes an act of congress to get on with them. I've been trying for years.

If that's the attitude you have, then it must be from ignorance. When you can buy a 4,000 sqft home for under $150, you can build equity real fast on a moderate salary while living in a huge house. Or....you can move to NY and only be able to afford a studio that is the size of the closet in that house while making twice as much money.

Hell, I'd rather bag grocieries for Wal-Mart and live in a nice house than be the chief pilot for a north east based department and only be able to afford a tiny apartment or a shack that was here when Columbus first came.

I mean seriously...who would want to live like that? But hey, if you hate the rural states so much, please stay away. We don't need you.
