First time posting, so go gentle. Any hal guys have any word on when the final recalls will happen? A few of my buddies there have told me spring and maybe newhires by summer if all goes well. I interviewed a month before 911 and had pretty much given up on my dream of flying for you guys:crying: . I have heard both ways that I may or may not have to interview again. The chief pilot has my current resume, so when the ball starts rolling I hope I am there for the start. Any info or advice would be much appreciated

The recent recall hit the bottom of the furlough list and had to work its way back up. There were 24 recalls, 1 resignation and 13 left on furlough.

With no expansion, the next recall will be late summer / early fall 2008 to cover the 2009 retirements. My guess is there will be more resignations at that time and some hiring. Of course age 65 could change this.

With any expansion, it could come sooner. When they announced the new Manila flying for March, it was announced as 4x week but they said they were looking at eventually going daily. How fast to daily is anyones guess.

The company is also starting to get more serious about getting a new pilot contract done. They want to fix their costs as they negotiate for new aircraft for both expansion as a follow-on / replacement for the 767.

The company definitely has growth plans. During the recent court battle with Mesa, they said Go's predatory pricing and the loses Hawaiian incurred because of it had delayed and limited Hawaiian's planned expansion. I personally think that if Go wasn't screwing with the inter-island market, I would have been recalled over a year ago instead of going back in January or February.

I was in the crew planning office yesterday, and according to the latest figures, there are six people who got the mandatory recall and resigned, and they still haven't filled every opening on this bid. When that recall comes, the furloughees have two weeks to reply, so there are several who haven't given a thumbs-up or thumbs-down yet, and each time someone decides to resign, the Crew Planning people have to move further up the list and give another person two weeks to decide. It could take quite some time to sort it all out. As of now there are about eight or so left on the the furlough list, and it might even get even smaller by the time this one is all done.

Yes, the CP's office is quietly accepting resumes, but if they don't have a recommendation attached, they'll go into the 'slush' pile and probably won't get noticed again.

It conciveably could be next month that we start interviewing, or more likely, some time in the spring. Either way, it's nice to have everyone back that wants to be back, and get some new faces on the property too.

Just talked to the Chief Pilot and they are looking at Resume's. No hiring date yet, but it could be at any time (my opinion on the any time part). Prospects look good for expansion beyound the addition of Manila.
My advice is be sure the Chief Pilot knows your situation and keep in close contact. I wouldn't worry to much about another interview if that's what they want(I'm guessing you probably would have to interview again). Just be as persistant as you can without annoying anyone.
Finally if that is you in the avatar and you made the wave it should help your chances of being hired!

Thats great news news.. My buddy BF(frisky) has been helping keep my spirits high lately with all the good info. I must have made 5 or 6 trips to hnl from san to get the first interview before 911. I turned down an interview with aloha last year and everyone thought i was crazy..hell maybe i am crazy but after being so close to getting HAL i really have no desire to be anywhere else. YES that is me.. and i made it out of that one only to get crushed inside. The spot is jalama, just north of santa barbara and south of vandenburg. Nothing like an ice cream headache in the dead of winter to start your day.Cheers
