Could anyone check in with the latest furlough numbers at your particular airline, along with whether or not they are still furloughing or recalling (maybe even hiring). Just trying to get the current overall 'big picture'.

So far:

Aloha 10/~350
American 2800+/? still furloughing
Delta 695/? with 125 recalls summer 2005
Independence 742/1524 after 05/2005
Hawaiian 98/412
Northwest 485/? recalling
United 2172/?
USAirways 1879/~5279

? - how many on the seniority list.

2172 roughly @ United and no recalls really to speak of--they brought about 40 back a month or so ago and I haven't heard of any more.

At Hawaiian it is 98 furloughed out of a total of 412 (well more than 25% of the active pilot total). There were a few recalls early on in the bankruptcy when they added the Sydney service, but nothing new in a long time. They're probably waiting for the bankruptcy to be over and the company's future plans to be in public view before any more get recalled.

USAirways official number according to ALPA is 1879 as of January......and the January before that.....and the one before that too!!!

The 1879 number also includes the guys that are technically furloughed, but still flying for airways on the same 121 certificate under the Mid Atlantic contract. I guess they would be considered as being in the "twilight zone"

Edit to add sen. list numbers.

Just prior to 9/11 US had right around 6150 on the seniority list.

1879 out on furlough currently, with right around 3400 still active on the list. The decrease over the last 3 years is due to normal attrition. retire, JB,SWA etc.....

As of about two hours ago, Aloha has 10 furloughed out of about 350.

NWA has sent recall notices to approximately half of the 900+ pilots they had on furlough. Roughly 485 still on the street.

Independence is 742 furloughed from a total list of 1524.
In the grand scheme of things at independence air seniority
means nothing as #1496 on the list, furloughed I might add,
is flying the A319 as a Captain and #1523, again furloughed,
is a domicile chief pilot........

Things that make you go hmmmmmm.

Continental

216 still on furlough
4450 pilots on the senority list
everyone that wants to come back should be on property by April

For United, the current number on furlough (according to UAL ALPA website): 2133
The United 2004 seniority list had 9264; I think this was end of June. However, a lot of pilots took early retirement, so there is probably around 9200 on the seniority list now.

Nwa

A NWA ALPA email said as of the end of Dec 04 there were still 643 still on furlough. In addition, notices of recall have been send for Jan-March. At least it is moving in the right direction. The company said they were planning on recalling 200 thru June 05. Word is they may recall as many as 450 for the whole year.

4 FEs and 2 pilots at ATA were furloughed last November, 32 pilots hit the street at the end of January, and (I believe) 99 hit the streets Feb. 4.
