if i am not mistaken are they not going to just have the pilots that are planning on retiring be used for the pilot reduction if it actually gets to that point.

Also will there be more AA pilots on this wave or are there still TWA pilots that will be going. Just curius how far down the list they need to go to reach the 5 to 1

There are to that point now. I believe it goes 8 to 1 though..

To add what someone else stated

I would look for around 200 in the near future as the company parks 12 narrow body aircraft. If Hunter and boys sell out with the "soft 90", then add another 800 to the list.

300-400 total is the word from the BOD meeting. 15 planes parked--they said NB only. Not the A300's.

The scariest rumor is that the last 18 of the RJ's to be delivered got cancelled because EMB pulled the financing... Shades of USAir.TC

Jetnet says 12 will be parked and 3 that were to pulled out of storage will no longer come on line.

Well, the Red-Sox beat the yankees in the playoffs. I thought for sure AA would be hiring by the time that happened. I guess it's almost time to start another goal. Good luck to all AA people. Ya know 5 years ago I saw myself over there flying those silver birds around joining a pilot group I looked up to growing up in the AA family. Not giving up yet. Good things come to those who wait. Maybe that 'keep the faith' thing the red-sox has works. But, it kind of fells like running on a treadmill.

Anyone April 99 or after is not "furlough protected" if there is such a thing. I believe they can furlough 1153 more to get to this point. If you PM your buds info I can find out where he sits if you like.

From President Ralph Hunter - American Airlines Announces FurloughsYesterday's announcement of the 3rd quarter losses was not pleasant news for any of us. You can blame fees, fares, or fuel for the losses but the bottom line is that forces external to our control have resulted in a financial condition that required the company to reevaluate its 2005 fleet plan. In addition to the announced 15 aircraft that will be parked, it is our understanding that American will also leave an additional 20 aircraft in storage that they had previously planned on returning to revenue service for a net decrease of 35 aircraft from the original 2005 fleet plan. After accounting for increased utilization of the remaining aircraft and planned pilot retirements, Management is currently projecting the need to furlough between 350 and 450 pilots. The first furloughs are planned for January 6th, and will include 125 pilots, with additional pilots likely to be furloughed over the following four months.

Obviously this is bad news for pilots who face the prospect of furlough. It is additionally difficult news for the 2591 pilots currently on furlough because it means conditions conducive to their recall clearly do not exist and do not seem to be on the horizon. Due to the extreme volatility present in the industry, these plans are subject to change.

When further information including dates and numbers become available, we will post them in this forum. We expect to have that information verified and finalized by Friday afternoon. It is always difficult to accept bad news about furloughs. Our hearts go out to our fellow pilots with the hope that the sacrifices they make will lead to a stronger company and a quick return. Furlough Protection - my A$$!

So far, I have been furloughed twice from AA WITH furlough protection in place.

Doesn't mean a bean. Just something to soothe the masses.

Eagle is not growing like the AA pilots say we are! In fact we are not giong to get "favorable" loans for our last 18 jets, with dilevery between july05 and feb06 this means Eagle will take 29 more jets between now and july 05. And all future CA will go to flowbacks. the props are going away, and we will not see any good things at Eagle tell AA recalls.
