Is it just me,or does anyone else out there who has to ride another carrier's "jumpseat" find the lack of access to the COCKPIT jumpseat at a minimum frustrating to the most infuriating? Another holiday season is approaching and those #@%!!*&'s at TSA still have not given the go ahead to resume offline jumpseating, even though they were supposed to begin "testing"(whatever that means) an offline program back on August 10th. Meanwhile,I'll be getting bumped off flight after flight(as I'm sure alot of you people will as well),while the jumpseat goes out as empty as Jessica Simpson's head. I did have an American guy tell me the other day that he was told TSA(Too Stupid for Applebees)said they were getting ready to resume it with a valid company ID and a valid passport. Anyone else heard this latest one??

I know you're upset, but don't take it out on poor Jessica!

We should be happy that the cabins are as full as her tank tops! :D

P.S. Don't have an answer to your question, but I share your sentiments about the jumpseat...and the Tequila Sniffing Agency.

I agree with you man. It is so annoying not being able to do that! I have never been able to jump seat in the cockpit ever. Since I came on with a company that had privileges after 9/11. I just wanted to see it. I really hope they get this figured out sometime soon! But I am not that upset. At least I have privileges period.

Dude, TSA is Thousands Standing Around.

Along those lines, which airlines don't have the open jumpseat policy? Meaning only the number of jumpseaters sitting in back equals the number of jumpseats installed. I believe AA is one of them.

DL is another...

TSA

I caught a glimpse of a TSA memo sent to an airline we used to be able to jumpseat on a few months ago but we can't now. I was surprised to see on their list of APPROVED cockpit jumpseat access persons "TSA INSPECTOR" along FAA inspectors and NTSB guys. I was outraged. What gives them the right?

TSA Inspector... Just another overapid, incopetent moron.

Jumpseat

I'll tell you who gives them the right. It's the old golden rule theory. He who has the gold makes the rules,or in this case, the bloated,empire-building,inefficient and untouchable agency given UNLIMITED power, can say who or who can't ride on the jumpseat.A competent, professional pilot just trying to get to work can and will get denied access, while some government appointed idiot, who before given his job at TSA was probably changing oil at Grease Monkey can by law ride the jumpseat. Go figure. See what a professional aviation consulting group thinks about TSA at:aviationplanning.com

awhile ago I heard that the jumpseat would be back in a few months. Like 3 or 4...but that was 6 months ago now. I heard it has something to do with the new TSA approved IDs they have to say CREW on them. Those new ones came out a while ago but some companies were having problems with F/As trying to jumpseat since it just said CREW and not pilot or f/a, so now the new IDs say both CREW really really big and pilot up in the corner. So I guess once every company gets the new ID's the jumpseat will be ours again. We just got ours like 2 or 3 weeks ago. So hopefully everyone else will have them before too much longer.
