I don't know how profitable 75 seat jets are in this market. Look how fast the Republic E-175 contract got rejected by Frontier in bankruptcy (anybody need 12 E-175's). Now, the Q400's, I'll bet their numbers are a whole lot better on the short/medium length runs.

Never was a big fan of a non-Airtran employees flying Airtran customers. If the flight has a FL code on it, it needs to flown by Airtran pilots who actually have something at stake with the company. Outside regional pilots are usually building time for their next job, and in general are not going to provide as good of an experience as Airtran pilots.

There was a NWA strike in the 1995-97 time frame, I believe was the last one. Prior to that was the EAL one in 1988-89 or so. CAL struck in 1981, pretty sure.

Look at the UPS/IPA contract and look at the FX/ALPA contract. The votes in favor for the UPS contract was closer to 2/3 while the FX contract was closer to 93%. More pilots were happy with the FX contract.

ALPA suxs... but they picket where they want and they have more leverage at the table...
