During non-rush hour times the drive to midtown would be a solid hour plus. However the conduits used for getting into NYC (George Washington Bridge, Lincoln & Holland Tunnel) from New Jersey are forever backed up, even during non-rush hour times. I'd definitely stay away from MMU, simply too many road miles between the airport and NYC, with potential problems all along the way.

Not to mention MMU is a nightmare during crummy days as it is usually tied into the Newark arrivals/departures.

Takes forever to get off the ground if there is one or two planes lined up.

I've gotten swap delays into and out of HPN before. It is much better than TEB though, basically if the center is backed up you will catch delays, airport delays early am -10am and 4-7pm some days. Avitat is who our company uses, pretty good.

I did a drop at HPN from St Maarten Jan 01 (customs at ILM). It was freezing out... one of the busiest traffic days of the year... no delays into or outta there. EVERY line staff had a big smile on their face and couldn't have been more helpful. Effecient ground transport to our overnight at the Crown Plaza in Westchester and if I were to go the the Big Apple, I would get a ride to Greenwich and take the MTA to Grand Central Station. Having lived in Greenwich in the past, it makes for an easy side trip in.

It is sigificantly longer to go to Greenwich and then take the train to NYC. From HPN (or White Plains downtown), just take an MTA train from the White Plains station. Much shorter drive to the station and much shorter train ride.
