Key West Living

Dude freakin get over it. Keywest and the florida keys have nothining to do! U dont have to be a Buffet lover to enjoy some of the best fishing in the world, deep sea or even fly fishing for tarpoon. Great food. Hot women . Yea the beach sucks, but rent a boat and drive to one of the hundred keys down there. Culture: Hemingway????? How bout some great diving. Kite boarding, windsurfing. Sounds like u might be a recluse. Best buy????? kinda like wal mart the down fall of america, ur in the islands dude outside ur uniform get a good pair of flops, pair a swim trunks couple of tshirts and live the airline pilot dream for christs sakes. P.S. gay people wont bite!! Homophobe

I was based in Key West for over 3 years. At one time we had 5 people using a 2-bedroom apartment for the low, low price of $1400 a month. But, we always had fun. It's more of a family atmosphere among crews.

I still know of a couple of places that rent rooms, so if you need one, send me your e-mail or phone number and I will pass it on.

What is so idiotic about basing crews in Key West
Maybe Skywest will have a base on Catalina Island, Golf-cart it to work!!

I've spent some time in the Keys. If you get based in EYW you could find more reasonable housing on one of the keys further up the highway. Many of the people working service jobs in Key West don't live there. You may also find something halfway reasonable in the houseboat community right in KeyWest.

I can think of far worse places to be based.

I wonder how many of these people badmouthing Key West are based somewhere like IAH, EWR, CLE, ORD, CVG, ATL etc. Like many places life in the Keys is what you make of it. If you have any interest in water sports or fishing you'll be in paradise. Nightlife there is predictably full of drunk tourists and will get old quickly.

Personally if I got to choose a place to live in the Keys it would probably be around Marathon. That's too far to drive to EYW unless you're flying 3 or 4 day trips.

Since we're talking about the Keys has anyone been to that bar outside Key West on the north side of A1A called "The Square Grouper?" Those of you that have lived in Florida know the meaning of that phrase. Bet the owner of that bar has a story.
