I am not one of the unlucky ones at XJ who are on the furlough list, but am thinking of taking the voluntary one if its offered in july as rumor has it. Question, can we take another airline job and keep our seniority number at XJ? That would open my options up.

Some companies might insist you resign from XJ and some might not. I think Air Wisky is one that would, while ExpressJet does not.

I believe you can keep your seniority number as long as your new airline or employer does not require you to resign your seniority rights at XJ. So even as a voluntary you should still be able to keep your number. I know AWAC does require you to resign your sen. number at your previous carrier. ExpressJet does not. Depends on the company!

yeah if i go anywhere it would be away from redtails......who is QX?

Horizon Airlines, you have to know someone that wills you a position there when they die....or at least it seems that way.

Didn't have to at SkyWest, although I don't plan on going back.

Could always make a deal with one of the CPs to "table" your letter of resignation, but probably shoudn't be in the same union at that point. After that I really don't have any qualms about screwing over an airlines as they would be just as glad to do it to you.

Never know xjhawk, you could be too junior to hold the voluntary furlough when it comes out. You know things are bad when that happens.

Not a bad idea, overall. Why not start working on an upgrade elsewhere while XJ is still shrinking? Something to think about...

Ok, I'll ask the stupid question. How can you be too junior to be voluntarily furloughed if they furlough the junior guys first?

A senior guy wanting to be furloughed comes before a junior guy getting involuntarily furloughed. What he's saying is that their might actually be 50+ senior people to XJHAWK that take a voluntary furlough. Therefore, XJHAWK would be forced to stay at Mesaba! The company loves it! Get rid of the higher paid people first!

I know some people who took other jobs (instructing) between the two airlines. That way you resign your last jobs seniority and nothing else.

Just an idea!

They were actively hiring a bunch here recently. I believe they are taking more Q400 deliveries later on this year, so more pilots going through training...

Anybody know Mesa's stand on making new-hires surrender their previous seniority?
