Everyone sometime in their career should work for a really slime-ball outfit like these guys so they can see what the rock-bottom of the industry is like and just how feckless the FAA is in airline oversight.

Never fails. There will ALWAYS be someone out there thats got that "Holier then thou" attitude. I put 2 years in at Evergreen and made a lot of friends there. Great group of pilot's and FE's to fly with. I have since moved in but I don't regret for a second leaving a regional to go get some wide body international experience.

I do get tired off all the negative posters on here. If you don't like Evergreen, Kalitta, Arrow, ETC then don't apply for those jobs. There is absolutely no reason to trash someone else's company that you have never been associated with.

Anyone have any idea which ACMI/Second tier freight companies tend to fly the most? Kalitta, Gemini, Atlas, Southern etc etc etc. Meaning at which would one accrue time the fastest?

Also: Other quality of life issues notwithstanding, which typically have the most days with your feet in your own home?

Thanks.

...or have to fly with a draginass!

Getting tired of negative posters??? I understand the negativity is depressing. But thats part of what these forums are for. Read the forum rules. If your smart, you take the negatives and the positives on these boards as nothing more than entertainment. You don't know who is posting since true identities are disguised. So who knows how much of what being said is true?

But hopefully you learn something. I don't like negativity either but it's better to hear all than to keep your head in the sand.

Let me clarify. I don't mind negative posts from someone that actually knows what they are talking about. But when you have people trashing another company out of just assuming it's a "scumbag" operation then I find that counter productive. What is there to learn from that? Nothing. The only thing that type of flaming can do is scare someone away that may have otherwise really enjoyed the job.

There are some acceptable supp carriers out there. Atlas for one. Pretty good pay comparatively and they take good care of their airplanes and have a competent operations department.

I didn't mind flying nights. Or even long duty days as long as it wasn't almost all the time. Where I drew the line was at incompetent dispatch, incompetent and shoddy maintenance, no support from the chief pilot, some blatantly incompetent and/or alcoholic crewmembers . . . . and the list goes on.

Look at the crewmember turnover at any company your thinking of applying. Be careful out there. No one is going to take care of you, besides you.

I hear what you're saying, but I work for one of those "scumbag airlines", and trust me, it sure beats flying for a regional like asa or eagle.

Ummm, that question seems a bit contradictory. But I hear what you're saying. So you want long flights with time at home. World may be a good option for you. Plenty of long flights with 12 days off in a row at home. More flying if you want or more time at home, your choice.
