Evergreen is supposedly getting ready to have an April New Hire F.O. Class. Stay far away from this airline.
I will give you several reasons:
1. 3 furloughs in the last 12 months. Currently, 6-8 F.E.'s are out on the street. 5-6 Capt's have been downgraded. 3 aircraft have been parked in the last few weeks. While other companies add 747's, EZ continues to shrink.
2. Evergreen has the worst pay of any of the Cargo 747 Airlines. Benefits are pathetic too. In fact, EZ may have the lowest 747 pay in the world. (At least for the first 10-15 years of the 30 year pay scale.)
3. Senior management has refered to the flight crews as thieves and drunks.
4. Contract negotiations have been ongoing for over 3 years. The company has been continuosly demanding give backs from the already industry worst pay and benefits !
5. The company continuously violates the existing contract. They fail to take out ALPA dues on time, they violate the scheduling section section of the contract, if you get sick...you better have a Dr.'s excuse. In the past, they have gotten crew to violate an FAR, and then self disclosed. Etc. etc. etc.
6. After flying half way around the world and being on duty for 18 hours +, you will arrive in a foreign country and find out that the hotel reservations they claim they made for your crew, don't exist; and there are no rooms available!
7. 16 day lines are frequently extended into 18 + day lines. Got a wife or children? Plan on missing ALL the big holidays and most of the important days in your childrens lives. At least for the next 5-10 years.
8. The company devised a partial home study yearly recurrent training course. They put out the word that the crews would be paid 8 hours for the home study, and then backed out of paying! Do you like to do recurrent studying on YOUR FREE TIME?
9. For a short while and for a select few, the upgrade time to Capt. was under 2 years. How long do you think upgrade will take with a stagnant (or shrinking) fleet?
10. A good number of the crewmembers have been voting with their feet. The majority of the junior F.O.'s and even some of the Capt's are actively seeking other employment. Many senior crewmembers will tell you to not let yourself get stuck at Evergreen. It will be many, many years before things improve; if ever.
11. Other cargo airlines are hiring right now. They pay better, have better benefits and treat their crews with more respect. For some, upgrades will be much, much quicker!
Management has entered into a scheme to provide crews to a Chinese Airline. I.E. pay and benefits are so bad, Evergreen is actually going to contract out crew members!
The Boeing LCF is barely flying right now. In fact, when it does fly it is usually empty. Boeing's partners are horribly behind in manufacturing components.
On the plus side of things at Evergreen; you will work with some of the nicest people (both crew and non crew) you will ever meet!
JUST SAY NO !
