Well, mine must be messed up... When I put them on (not in an airplane) and turn the ANR on, I can hear a lot of static noise. I had a student once that let me try his out in the same manner and it was 100% quite. Hopefully my new one will be perfect.

What do you mean by 100% quiet? You couldn't hear any of the prop at all?
I can still hear mine but there's a huge difference between having the airplane at cruise and then taking them off and putting them on again.

Trying to describe sounds over the net is a challenge. I was trying to say that yes I have a problem (I hope) because my bose suck. In my last post, I was describing just putting the bose on when not being in an airplane and turning on the ANR. On mine I can hear a lot of static noise whereas another pair I tried in the same manner I couldnt hear anything. So I think that the ANR is not working properly on mine.

The static that you hear is not normal. Did you send it back already? Did you get a replacement pair back yet? This is why i drove out to a store to get mine. This way, if there was a problem they had more in stock and i didn't have to wait for shipping.
Please update when you get the new set so that we can see how it goes.

thanks

I have the Pilot USA 17-79's that I bought back in January or February and they're absolutly top notch. I bought the Lightspeed 3G-20XLs and they worked awsome, but they gave me a headache after about an hour or so. No problems with the Pilots. The noise canceling is at least as good as the lightspeeds.

Oh, and the light static / white noise is normal for ANRs on the ground. Both the Lightspeeds and the Pilot make a light hissing on the ground.

I've been trying to send them back, but I cant seem to find the time to do so. Hopefully tomorrow I can. I think I am just going to send them back for good and upgrade my DC to ANR.

Did you already give them a call so that you can get an authorization # or something?
I would give them another shot before you give up. They seem to be working pretty well for me now. Maybe you just got a bad one.
