I saw a blue and white E170 at LGA, and every now and then there is also a blue and white CHQ or TSA E145.... what do these aircraft do and why aren't they painted in code share colors? Charters? Just curious, thanks.

I think some are used for charters, but mainly it's to be able to use them as spares on the different codeshares. For example, if every plane was painted color A, they couldn't be used as color B.

Pretty much the same reason a hooker doesn't get the name of her favorite john tattooed on her butt. Might drive away other business.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

CHQ and SA have them, 2 or so 145's or 170's painted white with a blue tail so they can sub them into any system (SA - DAL/UAL, CHQ - AMR, UAL, U, DAL ect.). Republic has all 28 170's in U colors as they only fly US Air on that cert.

Exactly right.

I HATE those planes. It's so demoralizing getting into a white airplane. Does wonders for the passengers too..."Didn't we buy a ticket on US Air.....what the hell is this?"...

to heck with the white ones, how about the one i like to call the Un-nited paint scheme.

Can these airplanes get some love. I affectionately call them White Lightning, or Wisky Lima around the passengers.
