Jumpseating on Us carriers

Any truth regarding the possibility to J/S on SWA or Jetblue if you work for a foreign company??

Depends, are foreign carriers in the CASS system? If, not, you would be cabin only if either have an agreement with your carrier. If not, highly unlikely, but you never know unless you try.

I can tell you this about JetBlue. CASS is not required to ride as a jumpseater as long as there is a seat in the cabin or a F/A jumpseat. There isn't a single foreign carrier that's CASS qualified so that takes the cockpit jumpseat access out of the equation. The only foreign carriers allowed to jumpseat (cabin seat only) on JetBlue are: Air Canada, Air Canada Jazz, Air Transat, Air Jamaica among other smaller Canadian carriers. I have seen an EL AL pilot jumpseat between PHX and JFK. Additionally I have seen a KLM pilot jumpseat between FLL and JFK.

Well FADEC those guys got lucky because they're not on JetBlue's approved list and I know they aren't on DL's, AA's or CO's. I guess in the end is all up to the captain to allow it but it's unofficial. I'm just telling what's official and in our approved list. I can guarantee you that they are not members of the CASS program.

You are probably considering cathay or maybe there already.

Not on the "list" at either carrier, so no guarantees for the jumpseat. You don't want your job at your company riding on whether the gate agent and CA let you on. Maybe going home you may be able to chance it?

As you know, part of jumpseat agreements are "reciprocating the benefit" which foreign carriers never do, so I don't see a change to the above.

I remember reading an interpretation of 121.547 a while back (pre-9/11) that stated that foreign carriers (that are operating under FAR 129) are not "certificate holders" as used in FAR 121, and therefore, their crewmembers (even if they hold an FAA certificate) are NOT allowed to jumpseat under 121.547.

So, if you are planning to jumpseat under 121.547, then I would say no, gotta have some sort of ticket. However, if a carrier wants to board you as a basic industry space-a nonrev, by all means, have a good flight.
