I recently commuted home on Delta...CVG-LGA. The flight was nearing full so the gate agent had me fill out the jumpseat form just in case. I went out and introduced myself and was welcomed aboard by CA and F/O. After everyone boarded, there were 3 seats in the back...all middle seats.
I'd rather sit up front than in a middle seat of a full flight. When I asked to do this, I got a somewhat silent treatment nod from the CA about sitting in the jumpseat. He seemed better once we got airborne and we had a pleasant chat the whole flight.
I certainly don't mind people sitting up front when there are seats in the back...but the ERJ jumpseat is terribly uncomfortable...so you'd be nuts to choose that over a seat in the back. So is it taboo/unacceptable to request the jumpseat even though there are seats in the back?
