I need some advice, I have approx. 1500 hrs, 380 turbine (c-208) 20 hrs multi...
Basically 80% of my hours are flying skydivers so I don't have a lot of IFR time and only 220 hours x-country. In other words I don't meet the FAR 135 IFR minimums. I want to stop flying jumpers because is not getting me anywhere besides building tons of VFR time.

I have a full time line service job to pay the bills but I want a flying job...
Anybody know of any companies that I might have a shot with...

Thanks

I see that Flight Express is hot for pilots right now. They've got ads out all over the place. I believe you'd have to move to Florida, and I can't really tell you anything about the company (I'm sure some folks here can), but they're advertsing for minimums right in your ballpark.

www.flightexpress.com

Their phone number is (407) 895-0453.

You sound desperate for work, but where have you looked? You're probably aware that you're going to have to move to find work...that's pretty much always the case. Get on Climbto350 and other such places. Get a copy of Trade A Plane. Jobs for those with low experience are always being advertised.

The Flight Express folks operate single and multi engine aircraft...probably a good chance for you to start single and move soon to the multis.

I believe Ameriflight in California starts folks with your time, too. I've known a few folks in times past that worked there, and I believe they're advertising for pilots too. They start you in a Lance, and have Navajos, Beech 99's, 1900's, and other equipment. The possibilities are there. How much looking have you done? How many resumes have you sent out? How many companies have you called or visited? The work is there.

The x/c time is whats killing ya--try to find an FO slot in a 135 freight. Where are you located? Flightexpress is all single pilot ifr-wont work for you yet..pm me on your location.

However, these check haulers are quickly and surely going down. "CHECK 21" is making this all electronic. They will be skeletons of what they once were in a year or so.

Get your time quick if you go there and start looking for greener pastures. My .o2.

Thanks for the advice, I guess my best bet is looking for a 135 that uses SIC but don't know if they'll hire me with only 20 hrs multi.

Any info on cargo companies with casa, shorts, metros, 1900 or any other aircraft that may hire lowtime pilots???

I missed the 20 hrs multi. Most will want to see 50 or more. They are looking for something above and beyond the rating hours. A short stint in a commuter will bring your time up and you can then go in any direction or keep on the commuter path. Check local charter companies. Many have gone to two crew due to insurance costs. Here in FL they picked up a bunch of FO's paying them only $10 flt hr but have steady work and they are logging turbine multi time. Not the greatest but it helps the guys and gals reach thier goal to get a better job.
